I tried Jan, but I found against harder enemies such as vampires, he got attacked first because he is weaker than the others. Unfortunatly, without being really careful of his whereabouts during combat, this meant alot of costly resurection spells and resurection rods used up. :(

Bumble, if I don't want my (physically) weaker npc's attacked I keep 'em out of harms way by using the right script. In Jan's case that means using something like 'thieves ranged attack', so he'll never get in melee-trouble.

Aside from that, I think the group you're gonna use can't be beat! :D

I'll have a go with that group I said after the careful advice you've all given me :) I'll let you know whether it's as good in practice as it is in theory :P :)

i actually use default script all the time, but as long as your weaker characters have ranged weapons equipped....

make a special visit to watchers keep with a lot of cash, and buy for jan something really nice....

they will happily snipe away....

jan is a very good npc, the only legal way to get spike traps which make certain very hard fights really easy...

aerie is the only npc who can chain contingency quest level cleric spells at high levels, this makes her solo dragon killer....

and jahiera is a stunningly effective as a tank, with abilty to use full plate and killer weapons, some of which you can run across in watchers keep, and her druid spells allows some serious tanking and killing ability if you meelee her...aura of flaming death, globe and righteous magic (with wes ease of use mod, balancing for shapeshifters and druids) she is a truely nasty fighter...

sorry, reflex cheese comments..sigh..
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!

@ VonDondu --
And what is Cernd? Chopped liver? He has just as many spells as the rest of them (excluding Aerie).

I rather meant that Jaheira is more "useful" since she's a decent fighter as well. Apart from that, I have always found Cernd boring. :)

Cheers

You realize your current idea for a party just got skewed dramatically towards evil. Edwin, Korgan, and Vinconia. Minsc and Imoen are good however so I guess it's not that bad. You cannot have the Jaheria romance if she has left the party for too long which I think has already happened. I would still go with Jaheria, because she is better than Cernd and has your alignment. Those evil NPC's are really evil.

hmm. well currently I have kensai, imoen, minsc, viconia, Korgan, and mazzy.

It seems to be working, and we're hardly ever beat, so thanks everyone. :)
