He wasn't bad in Saving Private Ryan I thought. I think that it might not be the acting that makes you guys hate him. Fast and the Furious and XXX were just bad movies in general. Bad writing, bad directing etc., I think that if he got some more good roles he might be able to do well. Although, he may have allready killed his serious acting career after those movies.

@Aegis: My faith in Canada soars at hearing this. Bless you. :D

@James Mason: I think of what's happening to Vin Diesel, and contrast it with the career of an actor like Russel Crowe...and I can't help but see your point very clearly. Perhaps it is the pretentiousness of attempting to pass off substandard movie fare by lending the weight of a "star" behind it that generates the broad dislike of Vin Diesel.

Perhaps what's at fault here is not the actor himself, but rather the marketing people and producers behind the movie. After viewing many movies being released these days, I leave feeling like I just watched the emperor wearing his new clothes. There was nothing there to begin with - just much hoopla and ballyhoo, wrapped up in a slick trailer.

I thought the purpose of this thread was to build up the insults with each post, not complete a sentence. For example:
Vin Diesel is a....
etc. etc. etc.
