Read minds??? It's something alot of people say, and it would be cool, but just imagine how boring life would be! If you knew what everybody was thinking then life would be in a way shallow.

Depends on whose mind you were reading.

Why? Even if you were talking to an overly interesting person, it would still take away the whole challenge of figuring out, getting to know, meeting the person. The ability could be helpfull in certain situations, but just imagine: You would know everything about somebody just by using your powers. That eliminates the fun of getting to know a person. It also would eliminate conflict. You would know what to do, how to act around the people you meet, thus making no room for conflict. And conflict is the spice of life.

Well, maybe just reading emotions then, instead of reading minds? Either way, I think it'd be nice enough.

The ability to beat the lie detector test.
Power to control which parts of my body are unaffected by alcohol.
The ability to be able to split into two of me for a few hours at a time.
Ability to project my emotions into other peoples minds at will
Non-dislocatable jaw in case the last power happens to not be working one night.
something similar to spider sense which enables me to detect angry BF's, husbands, and fathers in the area.
Ability of projecting illusions into other peoples minds, for when I wanna hit on that hot lesbien at the club.

I like the "powers/abbilities" of Ken Masters (you know, the guy from Street Fighter) only then a bit stronger. Would be cool to smack people around
Telekinesis wouldn't be for me, it seems to dull IMO. Plus your enemies wouldnt be able to move, since you completly control them.
Living in the world of the X-Men wouldnt be the coolest then...
I guess everybody can have his DReAMS...

Depends not on the power, but its strength relative to that of your enemy. You might, for example, be able to temporarily stop a few humans before exhausting yourself, but a single Weasel would simply laugh at your impertinence.

Not necessarily. Human thought is not single-threaded. It's a constantly shifting tangle of multiple conscious and unconscious thoughts, along with automated controls of the body that aren't normally even within the range of control. (I say normally, because there are yoga practices that can put some of these autonomic processes within the area of human control, for what that's worth. It's been proven repeatedly.) I know comic books and films show mindreaders as catching somebody thinking, "I'm going to rob that bank now!", but in reallife you'd probably catch a haze of visual metaphors, images, sounds, word relationships back to earlier usage, other tactile imagery, etc, all of it distorted and jumbled together with thoughts about this morning's breakfast, hitting the bathroom, a piece of music just heard, sex, calling for a dentist's appointment, etc.
Jumping into someone else's mind would probably be one of the most exhilirating and confusing abilities of all, if you got it.

I don't know considering you are a human fable(ok ok maybe YOU aren't), and you grow up and have evolved abilities to decide precisely what they are thinking, chances are you could with telepathy read a person's mind to some degree of accuracy, not with utter accuracy perahaps but with some degree, of course the more similar the person is to you the easier it would be to know what they are thinking.
Anyway I've thought about it and have decided that telepathy is really micro telekinesis, and that with telekinesis you could with enough practice attain telepathy, so with advanced telekinesis, I get telepathy, I get to make shields around myself, I get to fly, I get to be superstrong(i.e. tactile telekinesis), I get to teleport by manipulating wormhole networks allowing instantaneous travel, with suitable practice I can even duplicate almost all of the abilities that are inherent with other people, with a suitable amount of telekinesis I could warp light around me making me invisible, and thus I can sneek intot hidden corners of the ladies' locker room, perhaps peering even unto the holy regions of the Darketh Flameth ones.
So anyway to me advanced telekinesis allows me to pretty much do anything I want, even allowing for imortality, by telekinetically manipulating my DNA, or by converting to a creature of pure mind. Or by manipulating subatomic particles I could cause chain reactions in various atoms and thus cause small nuclear explosions. Of course this presumes that I have enough practice and learn enough in time. Like for example, Magneto should be able to read minds, I mean human brains are essentially a network of electromagnetic fields, or manipulate nonmagnetic substances(I mean everything basically has a magnetic field no matter how small it would be harder but not impossible). Iceman for example is master of cold, that means he puts all that energy somewhere, so it would seem possible that with time he could learn to manipulate the weather just as Storm does. And of course Storm should be able to duplicate Iceman's ability. Xavier also again should with his vast telepathic ability be able to with enough training be a incredible telekinetic. And so on most of the mutants or superheros that are the most powerful, should theoretically be able to duplicate each others powers, I mean all manipulate energy in some way, its just changing the degree of energy, hell Magneto should be able to manipulate gravity, because according to physics there is some connection between gravity and electromagnetism. Again with enough time and practice they could, of course chances are with a rather limited life span they won't but if they attain enough knowledge, the point is they could.
Anyway maybe I read to many comic books, and probably spend to much time thinking on the topic.

not at all. I thought a lot about it, and my 'ultimate' superpower would be luck. I won't be able to make anything impossible happen, but why teleport when you're in the right place anyway, maybe by accident? why fight when a freak thunderstorm/gas leak/rampaging rhino/freak rain of deadly jellyfish could do your work for you? why read minds when you can always guess correctly? why hold down a regular job when the occasional banking error will dump vast amounts of money into your account without them noticing, and get spare change by finding winning scratchcards and lottery tickets in your pockets?
why buy a car when vans full of nubile young women stop and pick you up whenever you want to hitch a lift?
okay, not too dramatic (although it could look good sometimes) but I don't like comic superheroes, those jumped-up lycra clad posers.

My choice of superpowers would be:
Telepathy; I would use it one myself to figure out how the hell Im thinking.
The ability to influence peoples opinions over the internet. (All will obey Weasel)
And most importantly: The ability to shapeshift to an Aplysia Californica.

@InfiniteNature, you're getting entirely too much into this. I suggest finding a nice, mature, intelligent woman. You won't be thinking of telekinesis again for a looooong, long time.

Besides the power of shapeshift, I think I would like to be able to alter my physical form into different compounds.
I think one example of this would be the Martian Man Hunter, right? I thought I saw him turn to steel, liquid and a gas form before. To be able to go through walls would be rather fun... Useful for peeping toms, but I just would like to get around easier.

Perhaps you can build one with telekinesis? If so, contact me... Not everyone considers sea slugs sexy.

Oh, that wasn't me. That was Dottie, who wrote: "And most importantly: The ability to shapeshift to an Aplysia Californica." So Dottie wants to be a sea slug. Me, I would perfectly happy being able to change into anyone and anything I wished, at any given time.

You know, this could just possibly be a symptom of a greater problem. You might wish for a superpower that attracts mature, intelligent women into a relationship with you.
Or, you might go out and earn $100 million in the computer industry. Then, even if you look like an Aplysia Californica, it won't matter. We call that the Gates Syndrome.
