Rule number one of the clique: Don't talk about the clique.

We will have a vote to de-clique Georgi at the next clique meeting

Hey, didn't I deny all knowledge of the clique?

Hey, you think you're good enough to be in my clique in the first place? :p

I understand what you're saying Galuf, mate, but the advice I would give you is come online and have fun but don't take anything too seriously here.

Real friendships can be made but give it time if it doesn't happen at first and try not get frustrated if you feel people don't interact with you in the way you'd like.

SYM mystified me for a long time but I've met some nice people in real life from Gamebanshee, including my boyfriend, so it was worth the effort in the end.

Cheer up, geezer! (*extends little hand and offers Galuf a firm British handshake*)

*after the performance is all over*

Aegis, Waverly, Frogus, what I originally meant is that I understand all you said before you did. I just fealt a little concerned that I was a little to frenetically paced and unusual for many around here. I guess I was wrong. ;)

Being some place else was quite a change that really brought the best out of me. The tarnish has been rubbed down, and the real me is beginning to shine again! *looks down on him, realizes his skin shine, almost blinding himself, grumbles* I gotta watch myself around that gold dust next time I'm in those mines.

 *suddenly realized he was hugged so snuggily by Scayde, standing with such an excited look on his face* T minus 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! *his helmet blasts off of his head, and he's running like a maniac* :D :D

(Thanks alot guys! Now I feel COMPLETELY like new again! Sure, I may work on weekend nights, but now I've getting my confidence back!*returns the handshake from Enchantress and the hug from Scayde* By the way, what the heck is a clique? I know what CLICHE is, but not that.)

Georgi, I was a clique snob when your parents were still listening to Flock of Seagulls and making their hair into hair-waves. :p

Galuf: No problem. Just be a bit careful not to take things too personally or condense into a black hole of neediness. ;)

You are hung up on being unusual.

You will never get anywhere trying to be different - try to be true to yourself.

Don't pride yourself on being unusual... pride yourself on doing great things.

Until the new member finds themselves in one of these cliques, they are usually ignored. IMHO, and I know this isn't a general fault of an individual, these forums have become somewhat of an elitest group.

Funny, I never experienced anything like what you are talking about. Everyone here has been very warm and friendly to me since the first night I showed up. The political debates get a little hairy, but I think that is more about ideals and issues than anything personal. There are a lot of people here with many different interests and those with like interests tend to gravitate to one another....but where those interests overlap, so does the social interaction. There might be the occasional member who is antagonistic, and once in a while I have seen a person be down right mean..but it is not a 'Group thing' where the group shuns and excludes someone who is not 'in'.

I grew up a snob among snobs.....I promise, this is not the atmosphere I have ever sensed in GB.

@Aegis:...Maybe it is like you have said in your earlier post to Galuf..the responsibility is on the individual to reach out and make contact if they want the level of social interaction that you describe. It is not a matter of 'taking someone in , or under their wing' so to speak...as it is a matter of giving a little of yourself to the people around you. Initiate the dynamic and most often it is reciprocated..not everytime...but usually :)

@Waverly and Georgi: LMAO.....SNOBS !!! :D :p

*HUG*s ;)

You probably don't see it because you are in fact of one(or more) of these cliques. That is a prime difference between us, as I have stayed out of this extremly tight knit groups. If someone were to ask which aspect of SYM I am part of, I can't be classified. That is why I can see this progression. It is a sad, but true fact of not only internet forums, but life as well. Conformity, or appearance of, is a must, or risk being shunned by the group.

In a sense, I am rarely responded to, even when I offer valid points, or if I am responded to, I'm dismissed, yet other people can say something that's half as true, or that is merely being rehashed, and is greeted by applauds and congradulations. This is an example of the elitest mentality I see here, and it has led me to limit my posting on these boards, and mostly just look after the couple of forums I moderate, and peruse SYM. There are a few others who remain outside the majority(if not all) of these cliques, of which I won't name, but some have shared similar concerns with me when I've spoken to them.

Even though new members are always welcomed, if they are unable to find a group, they don't stay very long, because the groups that exist will only pay them lip service. It is a truth of people and soceity, and the internet does not escape those aspects of life.

One of the cliques that I have seen you regularly subscribed to, and in fact one of the most vociferous speakers for, ( ;) ) is that of the oldest SYM members, a badge which carries some merit, those that were here before SYM itself, those that lament days and members gone past...
