It looks like Ed Greenwood first introduced Elminster in his 1993 "Magefair" story and then decided he was on to something with this character so he went back to flesh him out in his 1994 "Making of a Mage" novel. Then he bounced between Elminster's late and early careers in his follow on books. I don't know why the bibliograpy doesn't include the May 2002 "Elminster in Hell" novel except that they haven't updated it recently. Sounds like it takes place late in Elminster's career though.

Are Kelsey and/or Tashia included in any way on this mod? Just curious, and wondering if they have any personal items. I remember hearing that Tashia has an item that summons a tiger or leapord of some sort that's immune to time stop. Is that true?

They both have personal items, and Tashia does summon a tiger, who is supposed to assist in the battles, but no great help I say.
Kelsey is a nice sorceror, with a very nice sort of coat that protects him, and can be upgraded later --if I recall correctly.
Solaufein's blade: It's called Moon's Blade because his goddess appeared before him at night while he and pc were taking a walk under the moonlight. Generally, Solaufein indendifies the moon with his goddess. There is a certain answer to 'why', but I don't recall right now. If Solaufein is not granted Tsuki no Ken, he will then receive a special ability instead, Moonray. All being depended on dialogue choices.
