US SATs are completely different to the UK ones, AFAIK...
In the UK SAT stands for Standardised Attainment Tests, and they are used to determine what classes you get into and how much teachers moan at you...whereas from what I understand the US SAT is a mammoth all-area quiz that Universities use to judge their applicants.
Anyway nice one Craig
And try not to be too frustrated that they gave you a number instead of a letter
I will keep my mouth shut about what I think of school grades

You're right, @Frogus, in that US SATs are used (along with grades, awards, and all the other excess pagentry of high school) to assist in college admissions. But unless they've changed the format in the last thirty-five years or so (which is possible), those same SATs focused on only two areas: linguistic/verbal skills, and logic/math skills. I don't recall a single question about the sciences, arts or history, for example. Still, again, things may have changed.

@Fable:
Nope, haven't changed a bit. It's just still verbal and math sections. I don't think the test measures intelligence or creativity. Besides, there are literally thousands of prepatory classes to take those tests, which completely inflate the results.

Although there are the SAT II's, which are not commonly taken. You can take these in any subject. The UC system (which humanflyz is planning on attending) requires that you take the SAT II's, one in Math, one in Writing and one of your choice. I'll be taking the SAT II's in October, my choice of subjects will be World History.

I got my English yesterday, 6
it's a bit low for me but a good level. I think your meant to aim for a level 5(got them in year 6).
So I had in alphabetical order: 6, 8, 7.

There's been a real push now for the SAT II's in the US education system, since some universities, especially the University of California system, believe that they truly measure the knowledge of students. I for one completely agree with them because the SAT II's test content students learn in school.

Well, I guess the SAT II's are a better test, but I personally don't agree with any of them, after looking over all the info on this stuff it seems to me that the SATs, SAT II's and AP Tests are all money scams from the college board, I think it's ridiculous.
