Blue? Can't be beat blue? @Taco, you've been eating those crazy Mexican beans, again. ;) Blue and white are dead suits, now. Much of white's aggressive punch cards were removed, and everything that blue can do is much more expensive than it used to be. Blue is mana impoverished--while green is mana rich. There are even cards in green currently that can duplicate some of the head-messing effects of blue, but at a much cheaper cost. As I tell people (and as an old blue player), if you want to play blue these days, get a green deck. :D

I played pretty hard core from visions through invasion. My collection is now all gone. All I have left is one cursed scroll and one morphling.

The game was great fun for several years until I amassed such a collection of cards that it became apparent that the game is pretty much dependent on the shuffle of the deck. Any two decks built moderately well have an equal chance to beat the other. Mana hose is mana hose and if you mulligan down to three or fewer cards, you've got little chance to win. I'm not saying the game is completely devoid of skill, far from it, it was just always such a drag to work hard building a deck only to lose a match because two out of three games you continue to draw a poor opening seven.

I can't say much for the current type 2 environment as I haven't glanced at anything MTG in at least a year and a half aside from reading something about new slivers and by now they're probably yesterday's news as well.

Nice thread Taco, kinda makes me wish I hadn't pawned off the collection this past winter, but they were taking up way too much space in the house to not be used.

fable, guess wizards or hasbro or tsr or whomever has the rights now finally listened to the masses complaining about the strength of blue. You weren't one of those guys playing an academy/stroke deck making the opponent draw 10 million cards on turn two, were you? :p

If you're saying blue has been given a new lease on life, maybe I'll buy the latest, greatest; and maybe I won't. It's not the kind of game you easily put down and pick up again, you know. ;)

well thats my problem. i did pick it up again and am being punished for it :D live and learn :P

and btw im starting D&D aswell. im hoping it will be as fun as BG2. the games ive watched lookedike plenty of fun

You may want to keep an eye out for Greyhawk. It promises quite a bit, should be out in the next month or two. Also, check out King of Dragon Pass.

Though it's not a traditional RPG, think, too, about Republic: The Revolution. It's gone gold, and it's definitely a different take on a strategy/RPG hybrid.

There is an Xbox game coming out, called M:TG Battlegrounds. It looks good, although I am not sure how the game plays, but its very pretty, using the Unreal engine. I'm looking forward to this, although I dont play the card game, but thats because its too much of a money sink if you want to keep playing.

besides, my favorite alltime CCG was Rage

M:TG with the Unreal Engine? Sounds more like a stereotypical shooter than M:TG.

Hmm..I will be intereseted in seeing how this plays......I am an X-box fan, and a M:TG fan.......frankly, I dont see how M:GT would easily translate to the Unreal engine, but I will be looking out for it and checking it out ;)

its not a shooter, it juts uses the unreal engine for graphics.

Thanks for linking the traile....it definately got my attention...the graphics and dynamics are fantastic.....but I will have to wait and see hoe GMT translates to this sort of format.....LOL......I guess I am just a diehard....but I like the card game feel of MGT and am not sure it will be the same game in this format ;)
