Well - according to the manual alone, it doesn't seem possible either ... but we can test it "easy".
Just make an evil cleric, pump him up level and get some undead to him and see if they get controlled or blown up (my money is on the last)
Especially knowing my tendency to blow up... Especially when listening to anything Garret says

1 Have no idea
2 No
3 The spider is a part of the wizard spell, not the druids natural ability

Errmm... I may be wrong about the evil cleric turning thingie. I just ran through the Beggar's Nest with a lvl 20 cleric. Totally massacred the zombie lords. So, I'm not quite sure what's going on there. I know for a fact I saw Seth control an undead once. And I'm fairly positive we never added any scripts to do that.

DC means difficult check. The number you need to beat depends on the "thing" it is connected to.
Some spells have DC15 for instance, then it means you need to roll 15 on a 20 side die to beat the throw. Then you can get bonus to your throws etc, for instance save throws (fortitude, reflex and wisdom) regarding what it is you are trying to beat.
As for your graphic card problem - I can't really help there. If the settings in-game can't be turned to full, then there may be a problem with the drives or your driver settings.
