Don't think so. The table they were sitting at had a big symbol of Bhaal, right smack dab in the middle. You figure it out. Image

Not sure what I think about Sarevok being a new NPC. Like Drakron said, we've already got a good evil fighter in the game: Korgan. Still, I think I'd drop Korgan for Sarevok, provided I had him in my party to begin with. 100% magic resistance is tough to beat. I guess I can't be overly concerned, since I don't have room in my party for him anyhow.

The skull is just the symbol for the Lord of Murder. Currently, Cyric is the Lord of Murder, IIRC. Something like that.

As Pope said, I hope they make him an anti-paladin instead of a fighter. Anyway a good thief would be a must have.......a palin thief or a kit, but not a dualled, so that we have the opportunity of playing a high lvl thief without being a thief as main char.

I'd say this will be pretty kick-arse. Having a Bhaal-spawn fighter with 100% magic resistance is just gonna rock. Image

In BG1, they gave him 100% magic resistance to make him a balanced end-of-game opponent. Otherwise he would die quite easily. It isn't sure that they will implement this in ToB as well.

well i think its both cool and crap, i am undecided to be honest, it sounds cool but then i think its a bit of a cop out as well, he will be really weakend from bg and he will be evil as well and my party is good, unless the bring him back as a neutral character. might be an idea to keep the chaos blade now as it is his old sword, might become more powerful when its united with him

I wonder if he will get special abilities with that Sword of Chaos +2...(it was made for him after all)

I really don't know what to think about Sarevok being the new NPC. Ok, I've never played BG1 but I'm looking for in every store. I would have hoped the NPC would have been someone more "interesting" like Saemon or someone like that.

It is official, he is the new NPC. Yeah, evil parties had a good fighter, but good parties had 3 or 4.. i like to play with at least 3 fighters, and only had 2+Jaheira.
WOHO, no more jaheira!

But that part about giving up part of your soul...hmm, might be bad..
I feel that Sarevok would betray you in the end of the expansion as well, but..

Though this resistance wasn't complete. For one thing he wasn't immune to Web. Do you remember Web traps at last battle? For me all the problem was to lure him into them with Spider Bane in hand... hadn't even a scratch Image arrows and bolts finished him in breeze.

Ok.... I have found it.. Image DEAD should remain DEAD. I KILLED HIM only to encounter him once again in BG2 SoA. I KILLED HIM second time. And it seems that I WILL HAVE TO DO IT ONCE AGAIN !! Image IN ToB

Hey, I like Sarevok. Sure he’s a ruthless, arrogant, megalomaniacal, psychopath, but he had the whole Child of Bhaal thing figured out long before Gorion’s Ward or Imoen had the slightest clue who or what they were. Besides, anyone who can whack a mage like Gorion has got to be tough. Not to mention the fact that of all the final bosses of Baldur’s Gate, Shadows of Amn, and Icewind Dale, Sarevok put up the best fight (for me at least). He has a cool voice and awesome armor and the fact that he hates your protagonist should provide some interesting tension. As for the dead staying dead, didn’t Irenicus drag you into hell with him to fight beyond death? Don’t we resurrect any fallen party members? Normally I would agree with keeping the deceased restricted solely to fond (or not so fond) memories, but in this case I’m willing to make an exception. Bring on Sarevok! Image

The skull surrounded by teardrops is irrefutably the symbol of Bhaal. Cyric's insignia is a jawless skull in front of a black sunburst. While there are similarities, there's been no involvement with Cyric so far (much to my surprise), so I doubt he'll be a major player in ToB. I certainly wouldn't mind being proven wrong, however. I sure hope they do. Otherwise, I don't think Sarevok would be worth ditching anyone else for. Keldorn can potentially have 70% magic resistance himself.
