actually youre well within 40 in the PC with a dex build, so theres your other factor. You can go higher base AC than 40. There really is no difference if what youre going for is defense, except that you can use master speed without armor and get double the attacks. Dunno, maybe you should reconsider. Although it is kind of expensive to get all the cool items, whereas its a lot cheaper to just buy a 10 k armor. (although price at a certain point should no longer be an issue)
I regretted not buying more items cause even when I bought the dominators (22k) I ended up with 37k with a lightsider! so theres plenty of cash in KOTOR for it not to be an issue.

I'm saying that armour serves essentially no purpose. You can attack better without it and you can defend better without it. 35 defense isn't very good; Malak will hit you with any roll above 1.

No, I don't care that it's easy. I know quite well that I could defeat Malak with a level 2 character with enough time and effort, but the point of the exercise is the character itself. The guy who started the thread didn't ask for a middling character that was capable of clocking the game, he asked for the best character. You said the best character used armour, I refuted that, case closed.
