It is about movies that most people liked or that received good reviews, but that you had an intensly negative reaction to for whatever reason

Heh, good topic DW
Breaking the Waves is a good movie with an interesting story, touching upon several important but controversial issues. However, I hated every second of it since I can't stand Emily Watson. Yes, yes, yes she is a good actress, and yes, Trier is a good director and I usually like the Dogma concept which he represents - but I still hate this movie.
Amarcord by Fellini, le maestro. Many people view this as a masterpiece. It certainly has a fantastic, rich symbolic visual language, brilliant scenography of course, and a potentially interesting story...yet, I could barely stay awake.
@Grendel: What?! The intro is the best part of Trainspotting!
@RandomThug: What #2?! 2001 too vague? It's about evolution and development and the nature of mankind, it's not vague!

May I ask what you thought was so boring/bad/not fun/whatever

about the opening scene?? IMO that was the greatest scene of the whole movie. Perhaps even the best one of all the war movies I've ever seen...
And Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon => True, the story was ridiculous, but the fight scenes were truly awesome IMO.
Ohh, and so I dont drift off too much: I really disliked The Patriot. Never have I been so annoyed by a movie before

That was not what she said... She said APART from the opening sequence, the movie sucked. Which is correct IMHO.
Here's a few more winners that I really hate:
2001. YESSSS!!!! Finally someone who agrees with me on this anal, drawn-out yawn of a movie! It's the best example in history of what pompous windbags movie critics really are.
E.T *bleuch* Accute diabetes.
Pulp Fiction. It was such a hype, and when I finally saw it, it was so mediocre....

Urghh....your correct, how could I've missed that.
Well, let me rephrase then:
May I ask what you thought was so boring/bad/not fun/whatever about the rest of the movie?

Can only agree here - but I would never call that a "Good Movie" either, no matter how much I hated it

Everything. The "A Bridge Too Far" shootout. The ridiculous nazi villains. The historical incorrectness. It was very much a movie made during a time when Hollywood churned out a horrendous string of "America won the war all by themselves" movies, insulting the brain of anyone with an IQ above a doorknob. Then again, Spielberg confessed recently that there was tremendeous pressure on him from the studio to make the film "all-american."

CT, HD is very overrated indeed (I liked it though).
And I don't like most things with Carey, but I loved The Truman Show.

It's all about your mood when you see it. I saw it 3 times and hated it, then I saw it once when I was in the right mood (and slightly drunk) and I got it. Certainly not great as people say, but I liked it.

Mediocre? Probably because most people have seen the imitations first. I think it's very hard to have seen it at the time and call it mediocre. Great, masterpiece, terrible, pretentious- I think it would be hard to not have stronger feelings to it.
I think good movies you hate is a contradiction. Supposed good movie you hate would be more correct I think.
As for my own- I don't get Blade Runner.
And I don't hate the LoTR movies, but I hate the attention they take away from so many better movies.

I have to differ on this

Haven't you ever seen a movie you recognise as being very good on various levels that you have an intensely negative reaction to?
This is what happened to me with
The Cook. I could see watching it that on a creative/artistic level it is very well conceived, well-directed etc. etc. However, I really did not enjoy watching it, I found it too intense and too overwhelming, a complete assault on the senses.
On a less serious note, movies such as this are (to me) somewhat like Brussel sprouts, you know they contain all sorts of important nutrients but they taste disgusting

Okay, not a great analogy but still...

I do know what you mean, but it is very limiting. I think English Patient is total crap, not in any way good.
However, to prove your point- I recognise something great in Blade runner, despite not unlocking it yet.
I was so happy last week when after a dozen viewings I finally got Adaptation! I watched it so many times because I sensed the greatness, but didn't actualy see it. I do now.
Another overrated movie (though I don't hate it) is Lost in Translation. Could be it's a movie that works for certain people at certain points in their lives, but it didn't do it for me.

Bad Boys 2 - dammit, pure Hollywood-Crap.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 - it bored me to death and I don't like Uma Thurman (ehm, no, wait, I HATE Uma Thurman)

It's a Wonderful Life.
(I can do a decent Jimmy Stewart impersonation)
Anything starring the following actors/actresses: James Cagney...Katherine Hepburn...Henry Fonda (yep, Grapes of Wrath)...Meryl Streep...Jack Nicholson...Shirley MacClaine...Nick Nolte...the list goes on...

No Deer Hunter? No 12 Angry Men? No Once Upon a Time in the West? No Batman? No Terms of Endearment? No The Apartment? No Lion in winter? No Chinatown? No One Flew Over The Cooku's Nest? No The Shining?
That's a lot of great movies to rule out! (I'm not a big Hepburn or Streep fan, but I will make exceptions!)

Ummm...these are supposed to be good movies we hate, right?
Heh, the original Batman film starring Michael Keaton is a good movie I LIKE.

IMO, Keaton made the best Bruce Wayne/Batman. He's brooding, and does a good job appearing disturbed, which captures the essence of the Dark Knight as the creator originally portrayed him. Batman would actually kill the bad guys, not just bonk them over the head.

But you ruled all those movies and many more out, because you don't like anything with those actors.
And I love Keaton. My favorite performances of his is The Paper.

Michael Keaton has to be my favorite actor. His versatility is matched by few. He possesses an intensity that allows him to perform comedy, drama, you name it....and he does indeed play a very convincing psychotic (Pacific Heights I do believe).
