lol! I wondered what the sphere was up there. (I've avoided spending a lot of time in Vivec)
One thing I have done in most of the games I have started is to make mysticism a major skill, and I have bought the spells Mark/Recall, Divine Intervention, and Almsivi intervention as soon as I've been able to. During the early part of the game especially these spells really help to facillitate getting around. I'm sure this is pretty obvious, but lol! during my very first game I was totally clueless and it took me a while to figure stuff like this out...

Who wasn't clueless when they first started? I still AM clueless. You know I only just learned recently what 'turn undead" was? For practically two years of playing morrowind, all this time I thought that meant you could become a vampire for a set amount of time. So all this time I was like: "why the heck would you use THAT spell?" lol

lol!
Sounds like something I would do!
Speaking of clueless and Morrowind, if you haven't already, I highly recommend a visit to this site:

I'm okay with it, but you may want to go back and edit your post so that bit needs highlighting to be read, just enclose it like this:
text to be inserted[
. I left a space between the = sign and 'black' so you could see it, but normally there isn't one)

So, since this is the wise-woman thread, I've got a useful piece of wisdom I just discovered. Did you know... it is easier to break into a house undiscovered during an ash storm? I just broke into four houses in a row with a low-level character, low-level luck, and not sneaking or ANYTHING. I guess everyone was just too busy covering up their eyes so as not to get ash in them.

No kidding? Well I'll have to try that sometime! Oh, speaking of Ash Storms, I've never really remembered having one at night.. has anyone ever seen one at night?

No no. Ash storms only work in the day!
Wait outside and see for yourself

windform... windwalker, same difference.
heres what i do when i cant afford, or am too cheap for lessons in destruction. I stand in one place and hurl fireballs at trees. sometimes i will read a book whild i just sit there and pull the trigger... yes i know its cheesy but it works! i needed 1 skill at 60 and my destruction was closes at 57... so i stod outside ayron's chamber and tried to burn his apparently fireproof books... ok and my favorite way to travel is with the windform scrolls, you can find these in the wolverene hall mages guild sold by the enchanter by the door, for 311 gold you get 60 seconds of 500 levitation and invisability, realy really fast, especially when you have the boots of blinding speed... sometimes i think its faster than traveling by stilt rider, with all the loading it takes.... defenitley worth looknig into if you dont like spending all of your walking from place to place.

I'm not sure how wise this is, but there's tons of money in it.
I practice alchemy and am at a point in the main quest when a lot of the things you need "cured" don't effect me, so I have lots of reagents that make nothing but potions with negative effects or positive effects that I don't need.
I've known you can sell good potions, but I also found out last night you can make bad potions -- paralyze, drain health, drain personality, poison -- and merchants will still buy them! I can get between 170-180 gold a piece for them (all grandmaster equipment, int boosted to around 180 with two fortify potions)

Jesterking's fireball idea is good. I did the same thing with all my magic spells except I made the point cost one so I didn't use all my magicka too fast. Also, a good way to train armor may be to have a couple scrib attack you while you do something else and let that life regeneration item of yours do its magic. Or you can just buy your way to amazing skills
On an unrelated note: I saved Tarhiel from his falling demise and guess what! All he says is: Go save him yourself (use a slowfall on target spell with an area of 50)

Here we go...
If you want to upgrade your acrobatics skill, just find a long stair (the long ones outside the cantons in Vivec works really well) and jump all the way up. this will result in very many jumps, which equals uprgade in acrobatics skill.

Use levitate to get around. It's faster than walking, and you don't use up your fatigue, though if you're using a spell, it'll eat through your magica pretty quickly. It'll also bump up your enchantment skill if you're using an enchanted item.
