what kingdom has legalized assassinations?
well, pretty much every kingdom (read: state) has some sort of agency (usually named with a couple of capital letters

) to do it's dirty work...
and i'm sure crusaders (knights with a moral backing from the church) considered themselves obeying the word of Law (Lawful) and Lord (Good) when they came to Middle East... And we all know what happened there...
oh and 3ed D&D finally lifted the non-Lawful requrement for rogues.

but this isn't 3ed D&D is it? this is Baldur's Gate 2 - 2ed rules
and this is getting hideously off-topic

More of a hybrid really, with barabarians and monks...assassins can be any alignment in BG2 except lawful good.

Not necessarily. Isn't old Firebeard supposed to be an elf (or half-elf?). And there are dwarves around in Candle Keep as well.
Given Bhaal's sexual proclivities (which apparently extend to fire giants, dragons, and even kobolts), any race is possible (although I'm still waiting to see a Bhaalspawn beholder).
The only doubtful race is the half-orc. As the SoA manual says, half-orcs exist in Amn but not further north (since northerners have been at war with orcs for ages). So a half-orc in Candle Keep is extremely unlikely.

Your character grew up in Candlekeep, but since Gorion traveled far and wide, your character could have been born almost anywhere. So I don't think that the demographics of Candlekeep have any relevance to your character's race.
I've always had the suspicion that the Spectator Beholder is a Bhaalspawn, but I can't prove it.
Back on topic, I think that growing up in Candlekeep would put some restrictions on your character's class. For example, I don't see how a character from Candlekeep could be a Barbarian. Nor do I see how a child who never left the walls of Candlekeep could be a Druid. An Assassin is also pushing it, but I suppose a 0-Level character could learn about poison at the Library and
wish that he could poison people someday.
As for which class suits being a Bhaalspawn the best, I'd say that anything is possible and you just have to use your imagination.

The only class I really have a problem with the protagonist being is a Barbarian. This is because a Barbarian is a savage, and I find it hard to believe that anybody raised in a very small city known for it's enormous library could be a Barbarian.
Race is more of an issue for me. Imoen is described as being just a few years younger than the protagonist, so I have a problem with most of the longer-lived races. Elves and Dwarves would still be considered infants by their peers if they were only a few years older than a young Human.

Yea..also this excludes the ranger, considering that the protagonist never got out of CandleKeep in his whole life, this leaves hims with the following classes:
Fighter (Kits?)- A watcher may have trained him/her
Thief (Kits?)- Grow up with Imoen, may have picked some skills from her
Mage- Gorion's foster son
Cleric- Maybe? But which god would want the son of another god to be their priest?
Monk- maybe the monks at there tained him? But to me the monks do not seem to be the monks of Bg2..hmmm..
Sorceror- Possibility, considering the description that it is the spawns of gods or dragons..
Paladin- No order to train him
As for the races:
Human, Half elf?
Alignment: Lawful neutral? Candlekeep is a pretty lawful community?

I disagree. Who's to say Gorion didn't take the Protagonist on a few field trips. Also, a travelling Ranger (or Druid for that matter) might have had to come to Candlekeep, and ended u giving the Protagonist the basics of the class.
Cleric- Maybe? But which god would want the son of another god to be their priest?
What god wouldn't want a devout follower of his to be more powerful than the average person? Not to mention, if word gets out that this cleric is the scion of a dead god, many more people may choose to follow that said god.
Monk- maybe the monks at there tained him? But to me the monks do not seem to be the monks of Bg2..hmmm..
I don't have a problem here. Who's to say there isn't a martial-based Monk in Candlekeep?
Paladin- No order to train him
So what? A Paladin isn't trained, the deity chooses the person; it's a calling in life.
As for the races:
Human, Half elf?
What's wrong with Gnome, Halfling, or Half-Orc?
Alignment: Lawful neutral? Candlekeep is a pretty lawful community?
I can't see how Alignment would be restricted in any way. If you choose to be good, it's from Gorion's influence. If evil, maybe it's the essence of Bhaal in your veins. Maybe the monks taught you to be neutral.
PS, I don't mean to pick on you, it just makes it easier for me to illustrate my point when quoting somebody else.

What about a dragon who has a full-grown son?

But wasn't Bhaal spreading his mortal progeny long before the Time of Troubles? The Prophecies are 1000 years old, so that would give him plenty of time...
The main problem I have with that aspect is why isn't Draconis blue?

In that case, someone may presume that Abazigal could have bred with a Green Dragon, and that the genetic traits of the mother green dragon became dominant. The likeliness of this is debatable.

I think he means the human form of Abazigal.
He is a white sprite with a blue face on the portrait, if I'm not mistaken.

Well, since Draconis is green and his dad is blue, it stands to reason that his mother was probably yellow.
I always had a problem with the barbarian class... I mean, all the other kits and classes are like professions, you can choose to be a mage, fighter or thief. But nobody
becomes a barbarian.

I think those classes (fighter and monk) were intended to be under the 'fighter' banner, but for some dark reason they have been put out of there.
BTW, yeah, to be a barbarian is some kind of 'bein born in the middle of' thingie. Odd.

Nah, sorry I was referring to Draconis...who's a Brown Dragon not Green or Blue...Greens do chlorine as a breath weapon, Draconis spits acid. As I'm playing Ascension, I assume that Baz's mate (and Draconis' mother) is Tamah, an amethyst (bluey purple) dragon.
