How much memory have you got?

I have 512 MB, win 98 SE and the game doesn't crash very often as well...
But it did. Then I changed something in the BIOS, something about the Ram Latency and it doesn't crash anymore.

EDIT:
Ahh, and the game runs more or less smoothly. But it crashes when I use the 'Blood & Gore'-Mod. Seems to be too much for my memory...

Could be that, could also be the number of mods you're running, and the amount of attached scripts. Those mods absorb memory like a sponge.
