Brilliant I reached 89000 (party of 6) before chapter 6, and it gets a bit boring if you cannot level up. I hope it will work. Thanks

Sorry, but are you mad, or just stupid.

You can't burn onto a game cd... you HAVE to burn onto blanks.

Look, place the files into your BG FOLDER, where you actually installed BG onto your PC. heh, sorry for being rude, but its ridiculous burning onto your BG cd.
i accedently deleated my extra file and thus my override file and when i went in to the recycle bin and got them back it put them in a burn cd folder and i can't burn any thing onto my bg cd it says "the cd u have entered is either full or cannot be modified please insurt a blank cd" how can i fix this
I feel really stupid to write this (seems so obvious), but you can't add anything to a cd that is not rewritable and has sg on it (unless it is multisessioned, but this is not the case). BG CDs are closed, there is no way to add, delete or modify anything on them. All the file changes mentioned above refer to the files that were copied onto your comupter when you installed the game.

Thus, the file you deleted must have been somewhere in the BG folder ON YOUR COMPUTER, and not on your cd. The easiest way to restore it is this:
go to RecBin, right-click the file you need and choose "restore".

Meow, calm down ;) :p

You start BG2 with 89,000 xp by default. If you import your character from BG1 (with TOSC installed) you will start at whatever you finished at (161,000 if you reached the cap)

What level is that, do you know? What is the highest level I can reach if I don't have ToSC installed?

It varies with classes but it averages at about seven. Level seven.

I think the Bard was able to get to a higher level in bg than a mage (without ToSC installed) and was therefore the only class that was able to cast magic missle with five missles. But ToSC changed all that...

Sorry, that was a bit off topic. :D

If I use a cap remover (I have TOSC installed) will this cause problems when I got import to SOA? I have hit the xp cap (soloing) before finishing

*SPOILER*

the Cloakwood Mines

and while it is fun to finish the game, gaining experience is fun. So will there be any harm to using a cap remover?

No, it won't cause problems. When you start SoA your imported PC is set to a certain amount of XP (89000XP). If you have more than that when you finish BG/ToSC, the extra is removed.
and while it is fun to finish the game, gaining experience is fun. So will there be any harm to using a cap remover?
Nope. The level cap removers come with level tables, which enable all of the characters to go as high as they want. However, without scumming for monsters you should only hit around 10th-11th for a Fighter, 13th-14th for Thieves and Bards. Less if multi- or dual classed.

Cheers,

What size party is that? I would imagine soloing would be a bit higher...

The full six.

Yep, as the XP gained would not be split. You'd probably be looking around 25th level as a solo PC, but that's just a guesstimate - I've never played the game solo, so I don't know.

I ended the game solo with a fighter/thief multiclass and reached lvl 10/12, but I just rushed to do everything and certainly didn't do all the quest, so I think a solo character can get somewhere between lvl 22 and 28, depending on their class.

Max level in BG1 is levl20, its only attainable with xp remover, and its the max. You get levl 9 spells I think, although there arn't any there anyhow.

I did it with a fighter/mage and I got levl12-14 on each I think, Can't remember exactly.

Gidday me0w,

I thought that the XP Cap remover bundled with the Ease-of-Use patch could actually let the PCs go up to lvl 50? I've never bothered to check, so I don't know if this is true or not - have you checked it out?

Cheers mate,

Ok, I think you are making a mistake here, i'm pretty sure that your importated char can have any level you want... no doubt. SoA doesnt turn your XP to the regular SOA start level if im not mistaking...

Yeah? To be honest, I can not remember. I currently don't have SoA installed, but am intending to take my current PC into SoA once I have completed BG/ToSC. I'll check it then! :)

I thought that there were problems with importing a PC from BG1 to BG2 when using Tutu, or am I wrong there? I'm not using Tutu specifically for that reason (and I wanted to replay the game with no mods to begin with. Once I've completed this run-through, I will probably mod it to the max).

@coot
Yeah, I thought I was, but I wasn't sure! Cheers mate. :)
