niiiiccee... i like the feral khajit slave killer... one thing i wanted to do was unlock everybody at dren plantation but I couldnt find the stinking key... good luck with that. are bards any good?
I never shoulda brought the slaver killer thing up. Now that you guys are talking about it, I can barely wait to start, and I really wanted to get through the main quest first!
I've liked bards, especially just starting out in the game. The medium armor skill they come with may not be much of an asset; from what I've read it's a dismal compromise between hvy and light armor. (I've found some really good med. armor, but it ticks off Indoril ordinators to see me in it and they chase me all through Vivec and a couple other tons.) Block is an OK skill, but there's so many incredibly decent two-handed swords in the game it's almost wrong to bother with shields. But I've found the alchemy skills to be extremely helpful. Since you can instanteously gulp potions in the middle of a fight, it's like having a bunch of extra combat rounds; it's almost like cheating. I didn't appreciate the value of enchanting as a major or minor skill early in the game, but now it's great for recharging my swords and amulets and stuff.
In fact, I kinda hobbled the second character I made for my PC/expansion pack version of the game. It's basically a bard without enchantment or illusion and some extra stealth skills tossed in. It's working OK but I wish I'd dumped Block and/or Medium armor and kept Enchantment and maybe some other magic skill (the one that governs mark and recall might be smart).
