Yes that is an old post. High level fighters/monks/paladins CAN successfully melee dragons, but it isn't easy and I generally wouldn't want to try it solo. Probably the biggest problem is that the dragons have almost unlimited Heals when the want to use them.
I solo killed the black dragon with a Kensai, and I imagine an Undead Hunter would have a relatively easy time with the Shadow Dragon since he'd be immune to its breath. IMO Firkragg is the toughest of the bunch though. Certainly a party could do it, but this is one reason I haven't tried soloing a paladin yet. If you use the Talk/Attack bug of course you can kill any of them.
Need to form WEAKEST possible party

Solo a sorcerer and don't use any spells. Not even staffs. Crush the enemy with your fists!! That should be a challange...Originally posted by two:
Well I have been complaining for a while about the "easiness" of BGII. I started with a full party of 6 -- yawn. I went to a party of 4 on greater difficulty -- yawn. I soloed a Monk -- super yawn. Wrong choice for a challenge.
Now it's time to get serious. I will FORCE BGII to challenge me, but I need some help.
What, in your opinion, is the weakest possible party configuration? I need ideas for classes, dual/multi/single, solo- or group.
I was considering a solo Beast Master. Or perhaps a solo Blade? Anything with backstab is out (too powerful) similarly spell casters/pure fighters out (worst figher+CF=whopper enough). Perhaps a Swashbuckler? What is the worst of the worst? Should I solo or would it be better/harder splitting experience with something truly lame like Yoshimo?
This is what I am planning:
Max. 5 Rolls when generating character. Hardness setting one above core. No infinite money tricks in the Promenade. Legal play, slow and steady.
I think soloing even the weakest class might not be the way to go; isn't even the worst class at level 17-23 good enough? Would I be worse off dragging alone exactly the wrong 4 companions?
Any ideas? Hey just thought, a Druid maxes out at level 14 right?; how about a solo druid? Is that hard?
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak
THAT would be impossible!!!!Originally posted by Vicsun:

Crappy thaco, crappy armor, thaco penalty for unarmed fighting, low damage, no protection...
You would never get out of Irenicus Dungeon!!!
Hell ! Just the first ogre-mage or the first 6 goblins would kill you!
Okay... so that is the weakest character so far : the sorceror! LOL
OK this is getting absurd...
Now I'm told that soloing any character, even the weakest class (beastmaster), won't be a challenge because I will reach cap fairly quickly, and instead I should concoct a party of nitwits & do-nothings in order to split xp and advance more slowly?
Either that or cripple myself with stats below 5 or do something truly suicidal like run into melee with a sorcerer wielding a toothpick of popcorn-removal+2? I understand the humor value of this, but it does not make BGII seem any more interesting to me.
I think what I am realizing is that the equipment available in BGII is powerful enough (too powerful?) to make up for any and all limitations of class. That, plus knowledge gleaned from playing it before, and knowing roughly in what order to do quests for easy experience, makes BGII not fun the second/third/etc. time around. Hell, I was bored silly the first time with all the yawn battles.
Oh well, unless somebody comes up with an interesting suggestion I think I'll just wait on Throne of Bhaal/BGIII and hope that make the artificial int. smart enough to pose a challenge.
It's not fun playing a game if I have to deliberatly, and consistently, handicap myself in order to break a sweat.

I gotta admit I'm surprised that anyone thinks this game is too easy.
If you set the difficulty appropriately, don't reload everytime something doesn't go your way, and honestly roleplay your character it just can't be that much or a cakewalk.
Or maybe I just suck at it.

Two: Part of the reason I suggested all 3's for stats is I know someone here (Weasel?) was going through the game with a party like that. With the right equipment, it's actually possible to take a character with 3's and end up with:
Str: 25 (18 Mace, 19,20,21 Belts, 25 CF)
Dex: 18 (Gauntlets)
Con: 18 (Belt 8 hours a day)
Int: 3 (18+ with potions, can't think of anything else)
Wis: 3 (5? Axe, more with potions)
Cha: 18 (Ring, more with other items)
Of course, you sacrifice a lot of slots that could be used for other things.
