1) Kensai/Mage: Equipped with Celestial Fury and Dakkon's blade - hit them fast and hard! An alternativ would be a shield (lower AC) and why not a long sword (there are plenty of good ones)? Robe of Vecna and Bracers of Def AC 3.
If only! No shields or bracers for Kensai...
3) Minsc: Dual-wielding FoA (one of the very best weapons and will be further iproved in ToB) and Defender of Easthaven
Or Flail of Ages and Crom Faeyr, if you're not giving it to anyone else. Strength 25 is too good to pass up
5) Jaheira: Don't miss the druid spells or the romance. Spear of Kuldahar (later Impaler)
Are those spears really worth not having a shield?

@Xyx:
1) Damned. You're absolutely right, of course. It has been a while since I last played the Kensai/Mage. It will have to be the Dual Katanas and no bracers in that case.
3) Yes, it's possible. Still, can you imagine how awkward it would be to dual wield a hammer along with a flail? It just doesn't make sense to me. Also, Crom Fayer won't be upgraded in ToB - it's further supremecy can be questioned.
5) I think so, but you could always go with a club or a scimitar instead.

Hi All,
I have the Kensai/Mage with the Blade of Roses and the Daystar.
Minsc uses either the Lilarcor, Heartseeker, FoA, or the Hammer of Thunderbolts.
Keldorn is set with the Carsomyr. Also wears Vhailor's Helm.
Jaheira uses the Everard Sling, the Belm & the Sheild of Harmony.
I have the Celestial Fury, but can't use it (I don't have anyone with that Proficiency)
As for the party based on all the feedback I am now leaning towards the following:
Me - Kensai/Mage
Minsc
Keldorn
Jaheira
Yoshimo - later replace with Imoen
Aerie - I was seriously considering Anomen, but I don't want to go to spellhold with only 1 mage.
2 questions please!
First, I have read in this forum that Yoshimo is going to turn traitor. If that's the case am I not wasting my time with him?
Second, Will this party be good for ToB?

You might be a bit low on thief skills in ToB. That's why I recommended Jan instead of Imoen. Also, Jan is the funniest NPC of them all (along with Minsc, perhaps).
You can always use ShadowKeeper if you want to change profiencies. The longswords are nice but the katanas ARE the best choise for a Kensai/Mage: Celestial Fury (stun-ability and ultrafast), Dakkon's blade (extra spells from level 1-4).

Re Yoshimo turning traitor..
So I wouldn`t be spoiling by saying this is the reason WHY you take Yoshimo!

Keldorn is set with the Carsomyr. Also wears Vhailor's Helm.
Try Vhailor's Helm on Aerie; you won't be disappointed! The simulacrum can cast its own copies of her spells. It can also use its own versions of quick items (use Scroll of Time Stop every day
).

I would say it depends on whether you want to play for the most party interaction or not. If your main guy is male, take Jaheira. If your main guy is female, take Anomen, purely for the intriguing (if rather sickening) romances! Also, if you have Jan in your party take Anomen - some of their interactions are hilarious!
Oh, and you can have Viconia with Keldorn in the party - just keep them far apart when the party is stationary - sleep with them on opposite sides of a closed door etc. Only a certain conversation between the two of them will lead to them eventually fighing - if this conversation takes place just reload and move them and chances are that conversation wont occur again immediately.
Personally I like my current party to contain Anomen, Viconia and Keldorn (and Jan!) Very interactive and entertaining, if not necessarily the best Good/Evil mix!

Well, it's a bummer that the whole Yoshimo thing is spoiled for you, but go ahead and take him anyhow. In order to pick up Imoen, you're going to have to drop someone anyhow. This way, you'll automatically have an opening, and besides, having Yoshimo with you just makes things more interesting. Make sure you rip his heart out of his dead body after you stick your sword through it...
That party should work fine for ToB. In fact, it's the exact same party that I'll be taking into ToB, except my PC is an archer. Picking Aerie up was a good idea; in ToB, she'll be high enough level to cast 7th and 9th level cleric and mage spells, respectively.

Hi,
Thank you all very much! Based on your feedback, the change to my party will be to replace Nalia with Aerie.
Me - Kensai/Mage - Lvl 9/13
Minsc - Lvl 12
Keldorn - Lvl 12
Nalia - Lvl 13 - Replace with Aerie
Jan- Lvl 11/12
Jaheira - Level 10/12 (cleric 12)
I can finally get back to it after a week of indecisions.
As a former Ultima games bigot, I have to admit that BG is the best game ever - by far!!
Enjoy

Another thing to consider is that multiclass characters will be piss-poor in ToB - they'll only get one or two special abilities/spells, and most of the new stuff is *extremely* powerful. For that reason I won't even have one multi in my party for ToB.
(Edit) Apparently multiclasses *do* get just as many special abilities/spells, so perhaps they're not as bad as they seem. I'd still prefer straight classes though.
