Kind of reminds me of that scene from My Fair Lady:

Mrs. Pierce: We can't just take a girl in off the street like this! What about her family? She may be married!

Eliza: 'Oo'd marry me?!

Higgins: By George, Eliza! The streets will be strewn with the bodies of men shooting themselves for your sake before I'm done with you!!

Good morning :)

Kivan is a good idea in many ways, the heartbroken brooding man that he is :)

Abecedarian: LOL! I would have thought of a romance with Jan purely for the comedy, but alas, his heart is taken by another... ;)

Just thought of something...

I suppose the content of the dialogues would depend greatly on what stage the relationship was at. For example, how far are we into the, say, Anomen relationship when we meet up with, say, Kivan? If it's only at the "Was Gorion a good father" stage, it might seem odd for him to suddenly say "I notice you're spending a lot of time with him lately" etc...Perhaps at that early stage it would be more of an additional effort to attract the PC's attention? (i.e., "Let us walk a bit ahead of the others, my lady, and allow me to teach you the names of the flowers as we go along" ;) ) Or some preliminary rivalry dialogues between the two NPC's involved?...

And in the case of Kivan you have the fact that he and the PC have already been friends and shared memories and life-and-death situations that the "new guy" hasn't established yet, so the latter would be jealous of the pre-existing friendship. They could, for example, reminisce about their fallen friends Dynaheir and Khalid. Perhaps some early dialogue asking "So you seem to be good friends with this Kivan" and the PC fondly recalling memories of fighting at Kivan's side in Baldur's Gate, etc...oooooohhh...this is fun  :D

Anomen...Kivan...Anomen...Kivan...

Goodness, it's just all me me me me me! As if the female players didn't have enough romance options already, what we *really* need are more romance options for us poor male gamers ;)

So do we want to focus entirely on Kivan? I think that this has lots of potential. There's nothing like an old friend to stir up the jealousy of a new lover.......

Anomen: "I am sorry to hear of your tragic loss Kivan. You must still mourn xx a great deal. Were I to lose "PC" I would not rest until I had slain the one responsible.

Good ideas all :)

Lol, but I have added more to the Edwin dialogues for the fun of it :) I can try to think more towards Kivan if that's the way we are going. (and truly, besides myself, I don't think any like Edwin, so it may be a wasted effort) ;)
* * *
(Second dialogue)

Edwin: I hope in drawing you aside this time, that there will be no more misunderstandings between us. In that vein, I intend to share what I think of you.

PC: Yes, what could you possibly have to say to me? (Or alternately: “Edwin, you mutter day and night about the incompetents you travel with, I know very well what you think.&#8221 ;)

Edwin: My dear, by your light in your eyes that I find most appealing. That, along with the roll of you hips, speak to me of your thoughts towards me.

PC: I think that the reputation of the Thayvians, if true, leads me to believe a safe distance is in my best interest. (Or alternately: “Hips don’t speak, you sod. Get your lechorous eyes off of my body, or I’ll be placing this dagger here in your high and mighty forehead!&#8221 ;)

Edwin: Hush! Not all are self-obsessed fools! (Almost all though&#8230 ;) I am one you can trust with your more…tender moments. (She cannot resist my charms for long, soon…soon&#8230 ;)

I don't see why Edwin couldn't be an option, Especially if you have an evil, or neutral party. Besides it would be fun to script in Anomen's response to Edwin's overtures on the pc. I mean they'd probably hate eachother, and they both have serious egos, so watching them duke it out would be really entertaining.
BTW Vivien, love the lecherous Edwin :D

Ooohh, dw..irony, a little? ;)

I think that could go where the Anomen relationship is a little more established?...

Oooooo-kaaay...I've tried my hand at an early Kivan/PC dialogue, post-Tazok. It's very preliminary. *deep breath* Here goes (I'm just using the letter "N" to designate "PC Name"):

Kivan: It is good to travel with you once more, N. I have missed you and the others...since we parted at Baldur's Gate I've often wondered what had become of you all.

PC: I am glad to adventure with you again as well, my old friend. Unfortunately, things have not gone well for us since then, to say the least...

Kivan: Yes, you have all suffered many losses...our valiant friends Khalid and Dynaheir (sigh)...and now Imoen has been taken from you, as well. But she, at least, shall be returned. We shall see to that...N, I...am no stranger to grief, as you well know...your own may be eased by confiding in a friend.

PC: I am grateful for that offer...know that I will return the favor, should you ever wish to speak.

Kivan: Ah, yes...I have no right to ask anyone to open up to me when I have always been so silent...You know that I never speak at length about that, to anyone...but perhaps someday, I will be ready. Thank you.

Ehhh...so there it is, phew! :o

Too heavy perhaps? I've always thrived on tragedy...

Dragonwench: Thanks :) Actually, I got the lechorous idea from an exchange between Viconia and him...he thinks she's striking basically ;) I thought there should be several exchanges between Anomen and Edwin, as they'd fight ANYWAY (right now working on a part in which Edwin calls Anomen a pink pansy) ;) Anomen's colors are an interesting pick you have to admit...

Hey, we're good ;) Let us all partake in mutual backslapping as we kneel before the alter ;) . After this, we'll have to petition Black Isle for employment!
I'll have to see if I can come up with any more Kivan/Anomen dialogues. I'm enjoying inserting the subtle tone of threat on the part of our beloved Anomen.
I'm wondering, do we want to create scripting for both an LG and a CN Anomen?

You know ladies, as an aside, something occurred to me. Has anyone noticed how the evil-aligned characters are portrayed as being overtly lustful (Viconia, Edwin) , while the "good" characters tend to be presented as focusing more on the love aspects of a relationship? This is of course just a game, but this portrayal strikes me as perhaps being a bit black and white. I mean, were I too chose an alignnment, I'd probably be chaotic good, but that doesn't mean I don't notice the male body in the most basic of terms.....
Just musing.....but if it's not too complicated it might be a thought to try blurring those lines a little. Sorry, I don't mean to sidetrack things here, I have a philosophic bent that often gets the better of me.

One more, Anomen and Edwin: (Third discussion if Anomen is in party, otherwise skipped)

Anomen: My lady, I see that you have stumbled, allow my arm to guide you in this darkened street. Mayhap now would be a good time to continue our talks.

Edwin: Oh ho! I say, this proves my opinion of you, you pink pansy! All noble intentions pretended while you try to lead a young wench into a darkened corner. (You members of the ‘Radiant Arse’ are all alike.) (OOC – not sure if Edwin would say this, but it’s funny) ;)

Anomen: Do I understand that you besmirch my most noble order? Sir, your words and bearing are beneath me to answer, as I merely was helping the lady as I would any damsel in distress. Speak carefully lest my sword defend mine honor!

Edwin: And your words show so much about you. <PC>, hear what he says? What type of man would you like to lead you into darkened corners? One who will likely drop you for the next ‘damsel in distress’ he comes across after you? (If he can keep a thought in his head long enough for even that!) Or one such as myself, who’s very profession enables him to focus all attentions on a single object. If I were to take you into a darkened alley, there would be no playing around and disguising of true intentions.

PC: Yes, the blade in may back would come soon enough. (Or, alternately: “I have no desire to be lead into darkened alleys by either of you! What type of woman do you think I am?!) ;)

Anomen: My lady, I would ne-

Edwin: Shove off, can’t you see three is a crowd? Sweetling, you misunderstand, I have no desire to besmirch my robe in such a dirty alley. I leave the rolling in dirt helping orphans for choir boy here. Instead, might I suggest we adjourn to a nearby inn, perhaps one with honeyed wine to help you relax after such a day?

* * *

Dragon Wench and Loner72: You’re right! They are shown as thus….hmm..I am going to move Edwin towards the ‘relationship’ aspect in a bit.
And, I would love to see the ‘good’ men having intense ‘feelings’ towards the heroin :)

ROFL Vivien !!!,
I haven't had this much fun in ages. Praises to Buck for maintaining such an awesome forum!
OK time to start thinking about more dialogue between Anomen and Kivan. I like the idea of generating script for the two Anomens here. I think that an LG Anomen would like Kivan, because Kivan is in many ways quite a noble sort. I also think that a CN Anomen would be able to identify with Kivan, since he'd be able to relate to his desire for vengeance. This has the potential to create some interesting internal tensions for Anomen, since he'd see Kivan as both a rival and as a possible friend. This requires some careful thinking.

Hmmm, now, this is going to get complicated. Dialogue options would be totally different if the romances run alongside, or if eg. you already finished the Anomen romance and then picked up Valygar (or whoever)...

Anyway, I am working on a dialogue on this basis - PC is in relationship with Anomen, and Valygar is hitting on her. After a few conversations, Anomen starts getting a bit edgy about it:

Anomen - You and I have been through much in recent days, my love. And my love for you grows with every day that passes
- You have returned my passion... and yet I find myself fearing that you might yearn for something more than I, with my... meagre experience, am able to offer.
- I am loathe to ask you, but please, lass... reassure this poor knight tht he alone holds the key to your heart.

PC 1 - You know I love you, Anomen. How can you doubt me so?
2 - I resent your implication, Anomen. I thought you knew me better than that.
3 - 'Tis you that shares my bed, is it not?
4 - You were not so foolish as to think my infatuation with you would last, were you?

1/2/3-> Anomen: Forgive me, lass, I meant you no offence... but I have seen where Valygar's gaze lingers... (goes to next PC dialogue below)
4-> Anomen - Your words wound me, cruel lady! I have offered you nothing but devotion, and you repay me thus... Am I truly worthy of such scorn?
- Bah! I can hear no more of this. If this is your will, so be it, but I cannot stay.
- Perhaps one day a truer lady shall ease the suffering of my wounded heart. Goodbye, PC. (End - Anomen leaves party.)

PC 1 - I am not interested in Valygar, Anomen... but if it will ease your mind, I shall share his confidences no longer.
2 - Perhaps you should try to curb your jealousy, Anomen. If I wish to talk with Valygar, I do not need your permission!
3 - You had better watch yourself, Anomen. I do not wish to be caged.

1-> Anomen - I thank you, PC, for humouring me thus...
- I know not what I would do without you, PC. It torments me to think of it. Let us continue your journey and speak of happier things... and mayhap I can make amends later.
(End)
2/3-> Anomen - Aye, you speak the right of it, love, I struggle yet to contain my ill feelings.
- I know not... (continues as above)

So after that, the next time Valygar talks to PC (maybe that dialogue about magic that DW suggested?), if the PC doesn't immediately brush him off, (CN?) Anomen steps in and challenges him to a dual. (LG Anomen might just tell the PC to choose.)

Thoughts?
Who, me?!?

LOL, this is great stuff...

I don't think it's necessarily their being evil as their general attitude, upbringing etc. Eg. Viconia has been brought up with the Drow's philosophies about relationships.
And Anomen is a little different if he goes CN, but as a knight with no previous experience of women, he can only conceive of taking the chivalrous route to win the PC's heart. It doesn't mean he's not sexually driven... wasn't that us complaining that he gets to the lie with me dialogue too soon? ;)
Who, me?!?
