You can buy a +4 katana from the Innkeeper in Saradush for about 30,000 bucks ( 21 charisma ). Its called the "Yamoto", and it lowers ac by 1 when it is wielded. Its what my monk is using as backup until his fists count as +4 weapons. ;)

Isn't it a wakashi that you can buy from the inn-keeper? Also my swashbuckler has an ac of 21 without being able to pick-pocket and 19 with pick-pocketing. Not too shappy eh? He uses scimitars, drizzts +5 defender and a wikashi that lowers my ac by a further point. Barely anybody can hit him, add on to the equation a necklace that blocks level drain (i forget its name...power something or other) and you have in my opinion the best tank in the game!

yeah i'm with Zaha, i have my kensai duel wielding long swords with the equalizer in the left hand, and daystar, blade of roses(my fav), and dragonslayer in the other. I had to put the equalizer in the left cause for some friggin reason it would switch to the weaker weapons when fights began. Its a strange bug, like Anomen is more proficient with the Flail of Ages but he will use another weapon instead, a weaker mace or something, its very frustrating. Or when i want to use the daystar against the undead but the comp automatically keeps switching it with other weapons. It ticks me off man. Well thats just my two cents
This is caused by an AI script that utilizes the action EquipMostDamagingMelee() in the script.

This command (EquipMostDamagingMelee()) does not take into account any special abilities (IE elemental damages, bonus vs creature types etc...). It only looks at the + enchantment (+1, +2, etc...) and damage the weapon is capable ie 1-10+3 or 1-12+3 etc.

Its not a bug but a shortfall of the action.

Certain people (like Grog, Sarkyn, VelvetFreak, etc...) have wrote scripts that will change weapons based on what you are fighting to some degree and pick the best one for the situation (to some degree). To get their scripts click on BW scripts in my signature and check out the file area. You need to join the group, but its easy and free.
