I can confirm that this is true.

I played through BGI as a Ranger 2/ Cleric X, with all cleric and ranger spells (after my ranger level was reactivated).
A life is not important, except in the impact it has on other lives.

As for the lev. to wich dual I suggest 9th or even 8th: compared to lev. 13th you will only lose the extra 1/2 attack tha you gain at 13th, the Tach0 will be similar (remember that a lev20 priest has a Thac0 of a lev. 12/13 fighter) and the extra prof. are not a factor (you'll have already too much, considering the restriction on weapon of a priest), but you will regain your abilities in no time, while at 13 you have to wait a long time, plus you will end up as a much better cleric and you will have more spells of higer lev. and a much higer turn undead ability (very useful in SoA).
