Well, I use it on all the powerful guys, Im just saying its useful when soloing as well.
Problem with Kai is it doesn't last very long ... in any tough battles where I might've wanted it, I was usually casting spells instead.
As for the -2AC, that's a small consolation when you consider that you can't wear elven chain, helmets, bracers, gauntlets or shields - all of which a F/M or B/M could wear without penalty.
The real benefit to the Kensai is the +1 to Thaco and damage for every 3 levels. If you dual at level 12, that's a +4 bonus to both. But even there, a Berserker with the right gauntlets, and berserk, can get +3 to Thaco, +4 to damage, and +1/2 attack/round.
