@Warin: Do you consider Horrid Wilting one of the best 5 spells in the game?
And 56 AC? Thats all? How would you dance through enemies with 56 AC? And don't you think that Epic Warding is enough?
Metamagic
things i really like about meta magic is that it will increase a sorc's flexability, and allows the first spells chosen of a given level to be defensive type spells (or even a summon) that i don't need to cast often. imho it makes a sorc much more efficient. plus you get the side benefit that impowered / maxed lower level spells may fit the situation better (more damage ect) than the known spells of a given level.
for example...
w/ silent (or still) spell...
@ 8th & 9th level
a sorc can choose imp. invis and stoneskin as the first two 4th level spells, and use excess slots to cast fireballs ect.
@ 14th + 15th level
a sorc can use fod, silent igms, or empowered cone's firebrands ect. all as 7th level spells. depending on what type of opponent the caster is facing, also allows shadow shield to be the 2nd spell picked of this level w/o sacraficing the firepower of delayed blast fb.
@ 16th level
a sorc can choose premonition (as the first lv 8 spell), and use excess slots for silent fod's or empowered igms.

might not make that much of a difference if the pc can rest often, but it can really stretch the ammount of spells you cast between rests.
plus, you can actually use silent (or still) spell as it was intended...

Yes, i actually think Horrid Wilting is the best spell in the game
And I think an AC of 56 is very good for a sorc. With all buffs and a +6 Gear I reach 62. Im satisfied. I can let enemies svarm me, and still prevail.

Best spell in the game? What about Timestop, Bigby's (which may even be better then Timestop), IGMS and Wail?
As for 56 AC I forgot you were pure sorc, not pally. But did you take Epic & normal Mage Armour & Expertise?
Anyway, AC isn't a very good measurement as you probably have Imp. Invisibility and Damage Reduction among others.
