I really don't think Amn is very pseudo-medieval at all.

It's more Spanish/Italian renaissance I think.

I mean they've already invented gunpowder and they seem like a highly intellectual and philosphical society. I don't really see how you could call them medieval.

That's what I was implying. I think the best way to describe the world of BG2 is to compare it to...well...the world of BG2

It's really more of a unique mixture of different cultures and timelines then it is a mirror of one specific example. At least, that's what I've always seen it as.
