Yeah, I was only wondering about the story line. True that starting as a 32nd level mage goddess wouldn't be fun at all! Challenge is what we all love these games for, so I don't think they'll spoil it with giving us the chance to import high level chars.

I think starting off at lvl 1 is too much of a pain. I liked where BG2 began. I guess you could have started us off at lvl 4 or so but less then that make it near impossible for a mage unless he finds a group from the start and even then its a pain.
I cast MM, damn that didn't kill you. Okay let me try to hit you with my dart. Miss. Miss. You hit me with a sword. 6 damage. dead. Reload.

One point about Planescape Torment, since that's been a subtopic of this thread: Right now, since it's only recently disappeared from the inventory of nearly every store, the price has spiked. I've thought about buying it for the past few months and watched the price jump from 10-15 used, 25 new to 35-45 used, 65+ new. Also, the bidding on eBay has gotten a lot more active, from 3, maybe 4 people bidding on each auction to ten or more. It's pretty safe to assume that prices will drop back down in a few months once supply and demand re-stabilize. Of course there's a chance it won't, but prices won't get any higher than now.
And about BG3, a lot of the discussion is about how the Bhallspawn storyline can continue, when it seems to have reached it's conclusion, and the different ways it could go. Considering the fact that Black Isle created a rich environment in which the Bhallspawn story took place, if I had to guess I'd venture that BG3 will bring something entirely new into that environment which has nothing to do with the storyline from BG1 and 2. If I HAD to guess that is. Considering that this is supposed to be one of the big stories in the next issue of PCGamer (I think that's right, not Computer Gaming Monthly or any of the others) which will be out soon enough, the only thing I hope for in the game is that it doesn't make the mistake of POR ROMD-using an old title to market something that doesn't live up to the original.

I think it would be cool to play BG III as an EPIC character and kill lots of tarrasques (ye know, those gargantuan monster that hardly die
).
What about Aeries/Jaheiras/Viconias kid they were waiting, i bet you didn't play the game without some love
?
What if this level 1 teenage kid starts exploring the same paths as his/her father used to walk, finding old NPC's just chilling around and giving quests to the character (lazy bastards as 18-30lvl chars they are), but ignoring to join, allso finding new companions (and companionships
) and new lands, cities and old places to search again: what if the umar would attack in imnesvale this time ? What if Tazok and others would live AGAIN, realizing what you are ?
Damn i could go for this all day
This gave me an offtopic question:
What if ye....um... yer FEMALE character shags with anomen, will the character get pregnant, or is it just impossible ?

There's no female character who would .. ehem.. "fell in love" with Anomen (unless she's out of her mind). Who on earth wants to have such a boring whimp in her bed?!

You're right, of course. A lvl 1 char would never survive in BG II. I have just started to play NWN-HoU and to my great astonishment it starts with a 15th lvl char! (Maybe it assumes that you're over with your adventure with the Wailing...) It's good to feel that I can defend myself, but still I'm not powerful enough to kill 5 foes with a single spell, so it's challenging, too.

That's why they'd balance it so surviving with a level one mage would be possible. Take a look at the begining of IWD, for example. You could probably pick up a companion or two before your first fight, as well.
BG1 did it.

It would be cool to have a wrinkely old minsc carrying around a dead hamster in a quest 30 years after bg2 ends.

HotU is a direct continuation of SoU where you should have ended it between level 12 and 15.

The only problem with that is I am pretty sure it mentioned Minsc going back to where he came from wrote:I think it would be cool to play BG III as an EPIC character and kill lots of tarrasques (ye know, those gargantuan monster that hardly die ).
There is only one Tarrasque..and it doesn't "hardly die"..it DOESNT die unless you WISH it gone.

It is true that you might have some problems soloing as a mage if you were thrust into the adventure..but even in BG1 it didn't do that..unless you skipped all the side quests in the beginning of the game. You SHOULD have left Candlekeep at level 2 or so..and then right away after you leave there, you meet up with Imoen..then a couple screens away you get the two evil pricks as groupies as well. As long as they do something like a "tutorial-ish" thing like they did with BG1..hell, even NWN had one and it worked well..you leave that one at level 3 if you did it right..then everything should be just fine.

Hey now wrote:Back to the topic[/b]
What I would want in BG3 is prestige classes..lots of em. As long as they fit in with the timeline though. I would love to end up remaking my NWN:HotU character (Fighter/Bard/Red Dragon Disciple)..and the wings would let me fly as well if BG3 is in 3D!
Or possibly instead of "Red Dragon Disciple" just have it be "Dragon Disciple" like it is supposed to be, and you pick what dragon variety you want with it.
Basically I want a BG3 to be version 3.5 rules and 3D..which it probably will be.
IF the game starts at like level 4 or 5, allow some higher ECL races/templates..such as a Half-Dragon, Svirfneblin, Drow, etc.

possible bosses?
Orcus, Mishka, all them other super Demons... I would love going up against Orcus and/or Mishka. It would be sweet, don'tcha think?
I also agree, there would need to be alot of prestige classes, as well as follow 3.5ED rules. I don't care much for 3d, but it wouldn't dissuade me.

Another person complained that it was $30 a few days ago. I checked, and gave 'em the email address up on Amazon where it was selling for $15. If you can't find a copy for the latter, just wait a couple of days, and check again. $15 remains the average.

Haha! That's why I own my copy! *bwahahahahah!* but seriously ^^ It cost me 10 Euros and I bought it... let's see... three years ago or so.

How about a character leveling up to become a Godslayer and battling the gods on thier own turf?

I'd like something completely new, but still in the same spirit. Like Baldur's Gate is to Planescape Torment. Nothing Godlike. This time one could perhaps see Elmara(Elminster) and Mordenkainen when he was forming the Citadel of Eight or better yet you could be Mordenkainen's apprentice as mage, warrior, cleric, ranger or a sorcerer in the Citadel of Eight. See the battle of the Battle of Emridy Meadows...
. I think that'd be cool.

I think watching your character gain immense power is a great thing.. If you were to battle a god, the game should be started at the very lowest level and you shouldnt be spoon fed anything. I feel that if you were ever to even get the attention of a god in D&D you need serious power. Start at the bottom, build up. Of course, you'd still be a PC, and having the power over life and death would be stupid. As long as theres dificulty and the need for intelligence, the game could work, i suppose.
Im tierd
*shrug* I dont even know my own opinions anymore

Then you'd be ripping off the God of War franchise in a big way.

Interesting? Not really since you would already know what's gonna happen :S
