Ah, yes, a WARM UP wakes you up, but go for a long jog, then a good cool down relaxes your muscles and helps you go to sleep.
A long jog will tire you out - but it only makes the muscles tired, the biology (as Xandax put it) would indicate that adrenaline released while exercising would keep you up and your heart pumping, you never get "sleepy" tired after that - just physically drained and potentially exhausted, but you'd need to do something that would make you really tired and have worked hard to make you go to sleep because of it - and by that, I mean terminal exhaustion as in, falling asleep where you stand.

See if you can find a recording of gently running water or rain. I find listening to something like this is extremely soothing. It also provides a point of focus which helps to divert your thoughts from the movie. While you are listening to the recording, direct your thoughts or fantasies towards a relaxing activity or situation that you really enjoy
@tomtheterrible: To old to watch The Ring? It's not exactly a childeren's movie...
I was very impressed by it. One of the better movies I've seen in a long time.
The best remedy for not being able to sleep is to have a newborn in the house. After a few weeks you can sleep everywhere, at any given time.

Darc Ely Nyte I only 12 she wont have any newborns around unless there is a women in the house and we don't know her living environment. Even a near teanager is easily impressed. The Ring is not a good movie for romantic people. I think she should stick to commin-of-age movies and thats why I said "Home Alone" and maybe "Harry Potter and The Sourcerer's Stone".

There are two ways I can think of to get your mind off the movie. Here they are. They're not neccessarily good methods, but they WILL work (most of the time, anyway).
Method #1: Watch an even scarier movie. Guarenteed to get your mind off The Ring, but you'll still be scared so maybe that's not such a good idea.
Method #2: Watch a comedy show. Comedy Central's got plenty. Soon you'll be laughing so hard you'll have forgotten all about The Ring. Then you'll laugh yourself tired, and you could then go to sleep...

I'm afraid #1 won't have the desired effect...
But #2 sounds really good! Or read sg that you like to fill your mind with another story.

it doesn't matter if one gets his mind off the movie while awake, it's when you turn out the lights, close your eyes and start to breath slowly when your mind starts joggling things in your head, and that's when you need the distraction from the movie..
i'm 21 and last night i had a dream(which i actually molded during it) it became so scary that i woke up and had to turn the light on. I just couldn't turn the light off and close my eyes for a little while..

You're dreams are that scary?
I never get scary dreams. For some reason, I always feel ... I don't know ...
tethered to the real world whenever I dream, so I always know I'm dreaming. In that way, I always feel safe whenever I dream, so instead of being scared, I get fascinated.
"Ooooh, lookit! The girl's comin out of the TV. Wonder how she does that, she seems a bit too large to fit in there."
"Hey the dude's got knives for hands. Wonder how much that mod cost."
Yeah, well, I don't exactly consciously think this, but it's kinda like that. I analyze much more than I get afraid. But I don't know if this is possible if you can't somehow tether yourself to the real world while dreaming.

for me it's not the visual experience of the dream that scares me. It's the total terror feeling i get sometimes for no apparent reasons that wakes me up
take the movie mulholland drive(completely crazy IMO) the two old ppl who come into the girls room and start wiggling their fingers and coming towards her.. If something like that happens, one normally would just look at them and ponder wtf they are doing, but if you let it creep you that's when you panic, just like dreams, usually one must allow the dream to scare you before it becomes scary..

Well, Ring Two has come out. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth me seeing it? Or will it be Ring 1 all over again?

If The Ring 1 freaked you out as bad as you had said, why would you want to watch The Ring 2? Or why would your parents allow you to watch The Ring 2 rather....

My piece of advice: Rent scary movie 3.
I watched that movie before seeing the Ring...... It made the original a lot less exciting.

Great. You should see it, just so that you can come back here and post another thread about you being even more scared of the dark

Hey lay off the kid. He has every right to post whatever he wants. If you don't like it, don't read it. Its that simple. Put him on your blocked list because then you won't have to see his posts.
Its amazing how people can show a complete disregard for manners on the "internet"
