Btw, Zel, this name sounds strangely familiar for me :) Aren't you, by any chance, a spellcaster, who has a face of stone and skin? :) Zelgadis-san?
Right on the spot. :D

Well, you could have easily guessed from my other two threads... to quote from here : just finished the main game with a certain cranky, money-crazed, fireball-flinging, redheaded dragonspook sorceress by the name of Lina Inverse... I even made custom spells ("freeze arrow", "rah tilt" and "dragon slave") for her.
It was a great playthrough, even on the roleplaying side. Always a bit grumpy, asking for money at every turn, and even more often than not instatnly frying haughty opponents with a fireball because they pissed "her" off during their dialogues.

Now I'm tackling SoU with Zelgadis (other thread)... ;)

And what a cool avatar you have there :)
I love the story, too! Do you have the dubbed edition (if there's any at all)? I ony have a subtitled version, but it's fun listening to the original language :) Sound's good, they have a kind of intonation that you can't take seriously :)

I can't recall why Zel's face is like this? He did some experiments that went wrong or sg, right? (I saw that episode so long ago...)

Oops, offtopic...

Ahem, Aribeth is a very bad shopkeeper, indeed :D

Edit: [I've just seen your other post describing him... I'll response there)

Hey, no fair! Where did you guys go? I want to talk about....other things than Aribeth being a bad shopkeeper! Shouldn't you be Bel, anyway? :D

Ok, since hijacking-a-thread-and-walking-away is bad style, I'll at least explain to the non-otaku... :D

The characters that I'm recreating lately (and my nickname) are from Slayers, a fantasy slapstick series that was once very fittingly described as "what happens when a D&D campaign runs far too long".
If you're into roleplaying and do not totally despise anime, you should give it a try, as it perfectly parodies anything that you know about textbook fantasy. ;)

The world is approximately your average "high fantasy" universe, but the difference to any other series out there is that the protagonists in there are the equivalents of lvl20-characters. At the very least. With the lead female role being closer to a level40+ one.
And boy do you see it. Rarely does an episode pass without a part of a city being burned to ashes. And that already means that the "beautiful girl genius sorceress" Lina Inverse has had one of her better days. :D

Of course that's what she calls herself... others rather call her "bandit killer", "dragonspook" or "enemy of all that lives". And while the latter might be a bit of an exaggeration, it is true that she sees herself as some kind of high-fantasy Robin-Hood. With the minor difference that she takes from the wicked and gives to herself, of course...

There is plenty of material about Slayers out there, from a novel series to TV seasons to OVAs.

Just in case I made someone curious, I'd recommend taking a look at Slayers - The Motion Picture (rather known as "Slayers Perfect" in the web), as it has a nice plot, doesn't require you to have any prior knowledge and still gives a nice outlook on what "Slayers" is all about.

You most probably won't have any trouble getting the VHS/DVD from your local amazon branch - or (probably just as easy) from your respective personal favourite among the many infamous peer-two-peer networks out there. :o

OOOOHHHH!!!! No I understand. Well, I don't entirely despise anime, but I'm not a great fan of it either. It seems to have gotten less....well, animated recently (but then "Beyblades" might not be the best example :D ). I enjoyed "Appleseed", "Ghost in the Machine" and kind of enjoyed "Akira" but it's an acquired taste for me, and I haven't quite acquired it. Never mind, thanks for the information, I might just wander around the site anyway for the fun of it!

Vampire arrows

Dem pesky vampire arrows annoy me too.

I don't think they ever get identified automatically. I've maxed my lore (current incarnation is only 16th level) but still no instant recognition.

D'oh!
