But the question is, if i kick some members out, will i get trice as much(keeping in mind i keep jaheira with me)

Btw, whats the big deal about dualing 13 or 11, exept for # of attacks. I mean when kensai goes active again i can go to 13 tho it will go slower right?

- my party consists out of jaheira, jan, aerie, minsc, valygar and me, will exchange jan for imoen. Which members can i get rid off when i get my rewards, without negative effects (so far i know only jaheira might give problems).

- At how much XP does a mage hit lvl 12,13 and 14? (shuld try a lvling tree but lost my BGII book :$).

Any advice on getting my kensai active asap? Ill have like 3 mages after i dual =| dunno if im that good ;) .

So really id like to dual at 11, knowing my kensai will go active sooner when i can use it (Bodhi's Lair , etc etc).

Quest exp. are a fixed amount for each char. regardless their number, so it wan't cumulate so you only get your share (i.e. 45k exp).
You can kick out every body without problems, except for your love interest.

The lev. when you usually dual a kensai to mage are: 9th (after getting the extra prof. point+ bonus of the kensai), that choice (at 250k exp) let you regain your kensai status very soon (mage lev. 10 250k exp, for a total of 500k exp to be kensai/mage), is great if you only have SoA, while for ToB you will be more a mage with some good fighting abilities (need tenser for really shine in melee); 12th lev (after getting the extra prof. point+ bonus of the kensai, at 1000k exp), you need mage lev. 13 (1125k exp) to regain your status (for a total of 2125k exp); 13th lev (after getting the extra 1/2 attack/rnd, at 1250k exp), you need a mage lev 14 (1500k exp) to regain your status (for a total of 2750k exp): both the choices net you a more fighting oriented char. and there is great discussion between which is the best moment, but as you can see the last option is really ToB oriented because you'll be playing most SoA as a single class, and you will start gaining the HLA when you'll reach a total 4250k exp (3000k with the active class), so well into ToB.
Anyway the exp. lev for mage are 10->250k, 11->375k, 12->750k, 13->1125k, 14->1500 and every extra lev. is 375k exp.
Take in mind that once you dual your old class will never advance or improve in any way.

Dualling at level 13 gives you one point of thac0 and 1/2 extra attack per round. If you have SoA only installed, it's recommended to dual at 9 because then you can build up your mage to the top level (17). If you have ToB installed, dual at 13, because you can gain lots of XP in WK while still in SoA. As for the quick level-ups: dump the characters you know will come back, and take your reward. Remember that there is a difference between normal exp and quest xp: normal xp is divided equally among al classes, so if you would kill a 12 xp kobold everyone would gain 2 exp points, but if you play with 6 multiclasses everyone would get 1 exp point. Quest experience is given to all of the party members, e.g. "Jan gained 1000 quest exp points", "Minsc gained 1000 exp points", "X, Y and Z gained 1000 exp points". So if you kill a kobold all by yourself your character indeed gained all the xp (12 in this case), but you will always get the same amount of quest xp, 1000 in this example, and not 6000. People who dual to mage usually use the system that gives you xp when you succesfully read a scroll (scroll level x 1000): just collect all the scrolls you can find, gulp a potion of genius, dump all your party members temporary and read all your scrolls. This should give you some levels.

NEVER EVER dump a character you are romancing/want to romance. This will terminate the romance completely.

Actually if you have the mastery path installed (which I do) the 1/2 extra attack is not even needed:
you get 3/2 extra attack for grand mastery (1/2 after 2* and the rest after 5*), you get 1/2 extra attack at 1st, 7th and 13th lev, so counting is 4 attack for a 13th lev and 7/2 attack for a 12th lev; if you dual wield you add 1 attack with your off hand, totalling 5 attack (maximum number achievable)for a 13th lev and 9/2 attack for a 12th lev, if you add a weapon in the off-hand that gives extra attack or you wear boots of speed (extra 1/2 attack if you don't fix it with Baldurash fix) you will have 5 attack even dualling at 12th (not counting the gauntlets that add 1/2 attack because not sure a kensai can use them).

Hmm, well guess i can gain like 300k xp with learning scrolls huh :D . Will do that i guess... first level to 13 seems to be best as i have ToB too. But getting me rewards later (after dualling) is that a smart thing to do?

You COULD make a fighter/mage multi, and give him the kensai kit using shadowkeeper. so upou don't have to be a pure mage for like 13 lvls...

what profits gives duall above multi (dual will make mage skills more powerful, that i know). can i gain HLA with multi-classing too?

Dual vs Multi

Race matters... Only humans dual, and only non-humans multi.

There's an old saying... "A jack of all trades is the master of none."
If you want a mage with fighting abilities, go dual. If you want a Mage and Fighter rolled together, go multi.

HLA are aquired when you hit 3 mill exp in your active class(es). If you dual, this only counts XP aquired in the 2nd class. It won't matter what you aquired as a Kensai (or whatever), just what you get as a mage. Depending on when you dual, this can cripple your HLA table.

But Multi characters actually count the XP in both classes to give out HLA. My current M/T has Use any item at around the 15th level... Another neat feature is that you can choose a HLA from either table at every lvl up. I leveled up as a mage, but chose Use any Item over an extra LVL 6 spell because of it's immediate usefulness...
