So what have the rest of us done to offend you? Can't we have the fix as well? Surely it's not an illegal fix, is it?
Otherwise, it seems an eminently suitable note for a sticky thread.

No, it is not illegal, but something gamebanshee does not wish to be openly discussed. If you wish, I can PM you as well.

Co8-4.0.1 - latest fan patch
For those of you who may be interested, the Co8 has recently released the Co8 4.0.0 user created patch. I'll just let morpheus do the talking...
It contains all previous Co8 releases, moebius2778's temple.dll fixes, Livonya's 1.5.1, ShiningTed's 1.2.1 (including Playful NPCs and Desperate Housewives - the latter is optional), and Allyx's ShopMap V2 (also optional).
The list of things added/fixed since Co8 3.04 would be much too long to post here, so here's the gist of it:
- dozens (if not hundreds) of bugs fixed
- lots of craftable items added
- new armour & clothing
- new weapons
- new quests
- new encounters
- new dialog
- new stores
- new locations
- new spells
- new music/sounds
- improved enemy AI
- possibility to use more than 5 PCs
- level cap can be set to any number from 1-20
- customisable starting equipment
- now with Agetian's ToEE Front-End
Prerequisites for the mod pack:
Before installing the mod pack, you MUST install Atari's official ToEE patch 2, available here:
ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/toe...ANY-PATCH2.EXE
Atari's ToEE patch 2 includes all the fixes from patch 1; therefore installing patch 1 is usually not required. However, there have been reports from people who could not install patch 2 without installing patch 1 first. If you experience the same problem, install patch 1, then patch 2. Patch 1 is available here:
ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/toe...PATCH1_ENU.EXE
You SHOULD NOT install Atari's patch 3. If you have installed patch 3 already and want to get rid of it, just install patch 2 on top of it.
Microsoft .NET framework 1.1 is required if you install Agetian's ToEE Front-End. Get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Feedback is always welcome! Please use this thread to post about bugs, issues, feature requests.

new quests
At the risk of offending higher beings, what sort of quests have been added? I'm looking for lengthy, complex quests with good dialog, multiple paths to victory, that sort of thing. Some of that content has been added to BG2, and I was just curious what the modding community herein ToEE has done.

Needless to say I could post a lengthy list of spoilers, but I believe this is not the thread to discuss such things?
I will say this however, there is now a good reason to let Lareth the beautiful live, and (with Shiningted's Desperate housewives mod - which is optional) Elmo's mother has become a lot more talkative.
Not to mention a lot more craftable items including wonderous items, rings, rods and staves, being able to buy your starting equipment (also optional), new spells (more new spells to follow soon) and a list of bug fixes that is too long to post in great detail.

If I have already saved a game, will installing the new Co8 4.0.0 patch cause me to lose the saved game?
I'm not averse to starting over, but I would like to finish my current game before another run-thru.

Patch 3 Problem
Hey guys!
My problem is with looting. None of my characters will loot any dead enemies.
I've already downloaded the patch but I can't actually get it to work. Is this because I live outside of the US? Is there a patch for european versions and if so where do I get it from?
I'm on the verge of just quitting and uninstalling the game!!! Please help!

@mageUk
I'm also in the UK, and the american patches (all three) install just fine on my version. I HAVE to use patch 1, patch 2 won't install without it on my version (for some unknown reason), then patch 3 (but I prefere the Co8 release instead of patch 3 - it fixes the looting bug and adds much needed bug fixes and new content. there's a post about the Co8 4.0.0 release a few posts up.

Beta Co8 mod 5.0.0
Has anyone tried the beta Co8 mod 5.0.0 yet? Any opinions, comments, complaints?
I'm tempted to install it, but I can't seem to find a comprehensive repository of fixes for this beta mod. If anybody can help me out, I will be very grateful.
Thanks

Being one of the major contributers to the 5.0.0 mod, I am most deffinately playing it. Both the 5.0.0 beta installer, and cumulative fix patch can be found here. And can I just say, this is IMHO the best Co8 mod to date, more new content, more bug fixes, and a whole lot more rules compliance than ever before. The entire game has had a makeover, and is a joy to play. I totally recommend it to anyone.

I recently installed the game for the first time in months, on a new system. I noticed that my PC's couldn't loot anything, so I did a websearch and found out about patch 3, which I installed. Now the game won't start up. At all. It goes straight back to the desktop before the designer loading screens even come up. What's up?

The looting thing i know has been a problem with me since day 1 especially with any humanoid. To get around it you need to loot while in combat so you slect coup de grace on the dead body and loot it. I have patch 2.0 and now it wont work for me though so ya, can that nice man whos pming people on how to fix it tell me please?

The most recent Circle of Eight mod Pack also clears lots of bugs, including the looting one. You can find it at
Sorcerer's Place - Neverwinter Nights 2, Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach, Dragon Age News .

That worked for me. I downloaded the unofficial patch, dropped the dll file into the
Temple of Elemental Evil folder in the ToEE directory on my C: drive (after moving the original dll file to a safe place in my
My Documents folder) and I've since been able to loot.
I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do with the notepad files and the contents of the
data folder (from the unofficial patch).

I had that same problem. Re-installed WindowsXP and after installing patch 3 it kept quitting back to desktop as soon as I ran it. I installed Patch 2 back over patch 3 and now it's running okay. I swapped the dll file as above to fix the looting bug and it worked (I just don't know what to do with the rest of the files & folders for the unofficial patch zip). FYI to read the "Read.Me" file in the unoffical patch zip, rename it to "ReadMe" (without the full stop) and then right click on the file icon and choose "Open with..." and then choose "Notepad".

Co8 Beta Testing their new Module
The guys at Co8 have basically created a whole new ToEE game; brand new content from start to finish. New maps, new locations, everything. It's based on the classic 1st edition module, the Keep on the Borderlands, and it is truly a labor of love. These guys are pouring work into this thing for zero financial reward.
It's not polished, but it's playable, as I understand it. Haven't tried it myself but people are raving.
Go ahead and check it out at Co8.org. I believe to run it you have to use their "Front End" program which is a program they've created that lets you run different configurations of Temple without reinstalling or anything. The installation of all the components for that and for KotB is slightly involved if you're not very good with computers, but they have detailed instructions and are active on their board to offer assistance.

Lord Plothos... I downloaded all the Atari patches and installed them. When I tried to play the game, it comes up with an error message saying that I need to insert the Play Disc. Well, the Play Disc is already in the drive. I turned off the computer and rebotted, but that doesn't work.
How do you get the patches to work?
Can u help me... please explain it step by step with the link that I can download it like patch or mod
Thanks..

Do not install the third atari patch, only the two first.
Then download the co8 mod and install it, then launch the game with icon that is named: Temple of Elemental Evil (Front-End)
