Be sure to sound as retarded as possible in the mail.

Firstly, Bloodthroe, there is nothing wrong with the term bull poop. If you take a personal affront to it, PM's.
As for the review, I'm rather glad to see objective reviews that don't let the hype review the game for them. In the brief instances I have tried Halo 2, I tend to agree with much of what was said.

Lol, that's funny as heck aegis, but you shouldn't jump to conclusions.

When it comes to games (as I'm going to take your comment), this is not something I have jumped to. I tend to look at all games objectively, ignoreing the hype. In this case, the extent of my knowledge on Halo 2 was that it was coming out. I didn't look into anything else for it, as to avoid the hype. Upon playing the game, I was met with simply an updated version of Halo, which I found widely unimpressive. The only real differences were the updated graphics, and a few new token abilities that aren't really innovative, or all that entertaining.
The point is, though, that the author of the review on Something Awful is doing something that nobody else is: He's making a point at how blind everyone is when it comes to reviewing highly anticipated games. When the game comes out, to most people, it doesn't matter if it's good or bad, all that matters is that it's out. They've made their judgment of the game months in advance. It happened with Neverwinter Nights, and it's happened with Halo 2, not to mention a slew of other games in the past.

You guys must not visit Something Awful much.
The whole thing is a joke meant to get flames from fans of the game. Click the Truth Media link on the left to see some of the past stuff.
Though thiers is a good review of the game. Not that I've played it, but the review entertained me.

They lose a lot of credibility for:
1. Saying that the Xbox is less powerful than the PS2
2. Not spelling "Convenant" right
3. Saying that Master Chief is a "U.S. military soldier"

Now that I've had a chance to play it I cant say I'm all that impressed by Halo 2. A few new gimmicks like playing the alien point of view, more weapons, useing 2 guns at once are all nice. The graphics don't seem all that much of an improvement. As the game still lags a during the movie clips.
I do find in annoying to be getting hit by shots but having no idea where they are coming from. Didn't the orginal halo give an arrow or some kind of signal showing which way the shots came from?
And why oh why did they feel it necessary to bring back the flood? The one thing I hated about Halo the first time around was an entire force that was based on close combat attacks in a game that I'm armed with a gun. Its a shooter not a hack-n-slash. The game engine is not designed to be fighting close combat. One or 2 HtH enemies is fine, like the invisible dudes with the swords. Hey thats cool. But an entire army of those guys?.....lame.
I have a strong feeling Halo2 was designed around giving the online players more to do in the world of deathmatches and team play. But for co-op and story mode it's too close to the first game to be hailed as an almighty sequel.

People are saying the missions arent great, and I agree, Halo isnt about completing some obscure objective, its about shredding down your friends in multiplayer

So far I haven't enjoyed the single player campaign as much as I did Halo 1's.
*Spoiler*
Especially the section of playing as an elite. One of the best things about Halo was its focus on a classic storyline: humanity vs. aliens bent on our destruction. By shifting focus away from humanity's struggle against invasion, I think Bungie lost plot immersion. On the other hand, the alien section was somewhat fun to play, and the new insight into the Covenant is somewhat interesting. I don't know, perhaps this is the best way for the Halo series to go.
That being said, I'm looking forward to trying out multi-player tonight. I've walked around solo on some of the maps, and the map design looks excellent.

Yeah, I enjoy halo's storyline also. I think that is usually what sells it so much. I mean there are LOTS of other shooters that you can multi-play. How can you people hate the flood exactly? I'm lost there...

I LOVED the Flood levels. Just blastin' a shotgun at wave after wave of twisted creatures who come from the walls... great, great fun.
I think what I liked even more about the Flood levels though, was that you were completely separated from any allies at all. I felt completely alone and isolated as I fought through the "endless" halls of the Library. I felt like I was in the depths of the earth fighting through the legions of hell to reach the surface.

yea, but i loved it that in heroic mode, after a flood kills an elite/marine, they come back as a flood as well. At first i was surprised "what the heck where did this entire brood come from, i just killed all of them

?" then after continuos searching i figured out how it happened

I haven't played heroic mode, but I don't remember them coming back to life as a flood in legendary mode.

Yeah they come back to life, and if you kill a flood in any difficulty a small floaty head thing will attach itself and it will rise up once more to do battle with you

I would say the most ironic bit about the flood is when a marine kills one, says "GET UP!!! GET UP SO I CAN KILL YOU AGAIN!!!!", and then the infestid actually does get up and keep fighting (and usually kills the marine)

I thought the first was ok but nothing spectacular I'm not to sure about this one. Maybe I just don't like console FPS games
