Bound Cuirass adds +5 to all armour skills - including unarmoured. So it could help. There is a set of Dwemner boots of flying (levitate 1 to 100 points on cast) on a corpse underwater in the foreign quarter sewers. They speed travel up quite a lot but I had one problem with them. When you go to Tel Fyr to get cured of corpus the dwarf guy gives you an identical pair, one problem that is solved by dropping one pair. Perhaps you could get a daedric pair and self enchant. I can't find a pair, and ebony won't take a constant effect.

You can make your own spells in this game. I don't remember if there is spell that damages magick resistance, but even if there is, the spell would still have to hit first before the resistance is lowered.

So it is still important to advance your weapon skill in order to be effective in situation when you face enemies that are highly resistant to magick. If you are fighting one of those you should switch to buffing spells rather then attacking spells. Sanctuary would be a very useful spell, also fortify strength so that you hit for more damage. If you have low skills Fortify Short Short swords spell would be usefull, but I think you can only get that if you have Tribunal installed. Obviously if you are fighting against someone that magick resistant and also uses magick then Shield spells are a must. I can't really think of any usefull buff spells right now, but if I remember some more I will post it.

Yeah there is a spell that dmgs resistance, its called "weakness (whatever element it happens to affect)" and then once you get it you combine it with a skill with elemental dmg the same as what it weakens, so a spell that reads:
weakness to fire 10% for 20 seconds
fire dmg 20 for 20 seconds

will do some fairly nice dmg to a badie, untill you start fighting somethign a little more powerful

What does Sanctuary do exactly ? I haven´t found an explanation yet.

And what do normal shields and elemental shields give you. I still didn't manage to find that out, apart from the resistance to element that elemental shields give you.

Santuary reduces the chance of physical attacks hitting you. A 100 santuary means that your are invulnerable to physical attacks.

Shields give additional armour rating equal to the spell's strength. Elemental shields, IIRC, give both the effects of normal shields and elemental resistance.

Let me slightly rephrase what Rookie said about Sanctuary. It decreases the chance of enemy hitting you. But it DOESN'T decrease the damage they hit you for. So if you get hit having 99 Sanctuary or 0 Sanctuary by the same monster with all other conditions being the same you will get hit for the same amound of damage. It's just that with 99 Sanctuary the chances of you getting hit are pretty low.

I did a small test, and I noticed that Shield gives you an AC bonus and that Elemental Shields give resistance to their respective element, but they don't give any AC bonus. So what is the difference between resistance to element and elemental shield?

I'm not 100% sure about this but I believe one decreases the damage while the other decreases the chance of getting hit. Though I don't know which is which.

I may be completely wrong, but I read that elemental shields shield you by the same magnitude as a normal shield spell (ie shield 10pts on self is the same as fire shield 10pts on self), but they deal that kind of elemental damage to any NPCs attacking you.

I don't remember where, I saw this, but I think if you look up the spell effect in game from the enchanting menu, you can get an answer. If this is indeed the way they work, I'm not sure if they would do 10 pts of damage to the enemy, if they shield you for 10pts.

Note to everyone who's been here more than 3 months - remember that thread, 'Super Alchemy'? Someone had problems with this - they made a very strong lightning shield potion, and all thier enemies dropped dead at thier feet, we all thought it must be a bug - maybe not, maybe it was the enemies taking shock damage.

From the description in the CS
This effect creates a shield of elemental fire around the subject's entire body. The spell adds its magnitude to the subject's Armor Rating, and also greatly reduces damage from fire attacks.
