I honestly don't think the graphics are as good during actual game play. There seem to be lots of glitches where there weren't before, and the backgrounds seem less 3-d than before.
The new cantina music also is HORRIBLE.
And there seems to be less interaction with the other characters. In the first one they all had their little side-missiony things and you had all these options when talking to them that you don't really have now.
And I find there are lots of situations where I get stuck and die until I can get somewhere and snipe all the enemies away. You have to use blasters or guns more in this game, and I never used them at all in the first so I'm not too fond of that.
I do like my slutty dancing outfit though, and am happy that the female characters can actually look like females now. I just wish I could be a twi'lek.
There is also one spot on Nar Shaddaa where everything keeps moving in a weird flow and you can't do anything to stop it and all the character perspectives keep switching and it's a great big pain.
Overall I like the first one MUCH better. I've put in a lot more time on this one so far, but I think a lot of that was when I left it on and went off doing other things to resolve frustration.
There are also some issues with the target thing when you focus on an opponent and you can switch it around, sometimes that doesn't work right and you either wind up getting your butt kicked accidentally or you can't run in the right direction.
And I was really mad it took that long to get my lightsaber.
If the big plot twist is that I am actually Revan or Revan's daughter or something lame like that I swear I will...well be pretty dissappointed. The whole prologue was really lame too.
And that's it for now.

So if you don't like it this much, why keep playing?

It's not that I dislike the game, I like it just fine. I just liked the other one better. I keep playing to figure out where it goes, and because I am much happier now that I have my lightsaber back.

After playing KotOR2 for a week now, I definitely give it a thumbs up.
I find the storyline is better thought out than the first one, with less side plots to distract from the real story. Bonus missions are still there, but they're just that; bonuses. If something is intracate to the plot of the story, it happens in a linear and logical fashion. The character interactions are made more realistic with the influence points as well. The right and wrong choices in conversations are more subtle now, and can have consequences to your alignment.
The workbench enhancements in KotOR2 are really nice for anyone that likes to tweak their weapons as much as possible. The addition of component and chemical breakdowns for items is great, allowing you to make the items you need or break down the items you down, instead of trying to buy or sell items at the odd merchant. Plus, lightsabers now have 6 (!!!) different upgrade slots; (from memory, so this might be wrong, 2 crystals, power cell, emitter, lens, focusing beam). So there's plenty up modding goodness to be had.
Perhaps I'm the lone voice here, but so far I'm liking KotOR2 better than the original. And I didn't think that was going to be possible.
Bring on KotOR3!!!

It's just the Telos cantina that has the awful music. Onderon's cantina RULES. Which is good cos you spend a decent amount of time in there. I'm liking it better as it progresses, finally got Atton to talk more. There are lotsa glitches (these weird blue flashies in the Mandalorian camp, not the rain) in Dxun though which is otherwise really pretty. And at one point I was standing in front of a guy which he was supposed to be "typing" something and it looked like he was playing piano on my breasts.
The new lightsaber mods are awesome, I haven't updated my armor as much though, there's just too much stuff. And I love that you can make medpacs and computer spikes.
Also, I'm curious because it doesn't list it with the other powers on the menu screen, but what exactly does "inspire followers" do?

I think inspire followers gives a boost to defense and attack but I'm not sure. Heh, I probably totally wrong.
I liked everything about this game except that I didn't feel as connected to my crew members as I did to the crew members in Kotor 1. I think this stems from lack of dialogue. I miss the character specific sidequests (Bastila's mother, Carth's son, Jagi's challenge of Canderous, etc.).
Being able to create computer spikes and repair parts anytime I wanted and being able to breakdown things was really cool. I didn't like how merchants inventory changed. I liked to being able to go to a certain merchant and buy certain things.

Kotor1 Vs Kotor2
Kotor 1 has a MUCH better story line without a doubt, but 2 is fine in itself. It was to rushed to come out to public and in turn you see the flaws made in both story and progression. Another problem I have is the lack of side missions for your team mates, kotor1 had everyone involved in somesort of side story (bastilla and her mom, canderous and that angry dude, and jolee and the court trials, so on and so forth), so to see less of that is annoying. Going through as a bad guy (already done light side) allows me to see how how unmatched peoples reactions are at times. One example is if I have Krei and BaoDur and I kill an innocent then kreia influence goes down and BaoDur up, but if im only with BaoDur then his influence goes down under the same situation. Another complaint has to do with my team mates, they suck, the chicks are ok, ive yet to activate Diciple (played both as guys). Did I mention all the bugs in this game, cause man is it crawling.
The ending in this as a light side looks to generic and I will bomb Obsidian if it is the same as a darkside person. I look forward to killing the councill this time around instead of letting that other character do it. Perhaps someone can clear up a question for me since I left many loose ends as a good guy. 1, whats the deal with T3 blowing up HK?, and whats the deal with the GO-TO robot going after that little flying ball at the end?

Spoilers ahead...
T3 zapps HK to keep him quiet about the navicomputer being voice locked. Obviously T3 or Revan locked the computer to keep anyone from following her/him to wherever she went.
My understanding with Go-To and Remote is this: you saw the cut scene where GOTO attacks Remote he rewrote some of Remote's programming so that if the PC reactivated the Mass Shadow Generator (which was what destroyed Malachor in the first place) the remote would not be able to carry out the order. It would have to overwrite the programming that GOTO placed in it to be able to activate the generator, because GOTO does not want to see the Jedi or the Sith destroyed.

Too bad; one of the things I've always liked in RPGs of any variety is the sense of a genuine world where nothing is tidy, and many things happen at once. Sounds like that's been ironed out.

At the guys who have already finished the game:
How long is it?
Just about 15 hours like the first part?
bye,

Took me like 31 and a few minutes. No swoop racing or pazaak. And I didn't have the computer skills to talk to T3 like I should have either.
