Couldn't believe what I just read... "9th level spells, most of them (all who are not Time Stop) aren't very powerful" (Earcaraxe). TimeStop is nice, but the ultimate (anti-mage) spell is SpellStrike, all their magical defense gone and there's no defense against it!

About the xp-cap remover (use it myself): I found my first game getting a bit too easy in the end. A lot of tough battles are against mages, but when you can cast Spell Strike (and don't mind resting every now and then)... I know I will increase the difficulty-level in my 2nd game once I've past the xp-cap.

I always play wthout the cap it means your player becomes as powerful as he should be Image

I got my players to 20000000 XP on Icewind which made things intresting Image

I agree with Sleepy. Why should there be an experience cap? I reached my experience cap long before I took down the Irenicus' Dragon. Why should you not get experience for defeating such a great mythical being??

The cool thing i noticed is that your XP does not stop at the CAP if you put the remover on after you hit the cap it tots up all the XP you should have had, i think BI assume people are going to use remover.

Daemion: exactly my reaction (also: I hate it to reach the xp-cap halfway Chapter 5 already (I got about another 1 million xps/character after removing the cap)). Until I was in Chapter 6-7 myself and I won every battle quite easy (I had far more problems in the beginning, like when battling the Shadow Dragon). Not to mention the final battle... way too easy when you can cast 1-3 SpellStrikes. Surely that's why they implemented the xp-cap, to keep you away from level 9 spells like Spell Strike. Not that it's working, no xp-cap for me in my 2nd game as well, just a higher difficulty-level. Image

I think it should be to your discretion as to whether there is a Cap, in options or something like that.

The XP cap is supposedly so they can design for a baseline and be able to make each fight as hard as you are, but with the monster scailing better implemented they could do that without a cap.

Well i think we're going to have to live with XP caps (and removers Image) because from what i've been reading about neverwinternights i gathered that there will be an XP cap. I even think the XP cap will be around level 20 (3.000.000 points). So when you import you're BG2 character ypu won't be able to gain (much) experience. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe it's this way.

I read somewhere that there are going to be two kinds of roleplaying in Neverwinter nights.
The first one will be with players having PCs with normal stats (no 25 Str,25 Dex,25 Con etc) and "normal" experience points. We all know that you can make a "god" like character if you import your PC from BG1,with supernatural stats gained by those ability raising books you found.
The second kind of playing will allow playing with any kind of player you want, including these maximized characters.
They are doing this in order to let players with similar taste in RPGs to participate in games that are balanced for everyone.
I personally like the first kind of RPGing. The second looks like to me like some Diablo 1 game (remember all those hacked characters ?) or Diablo 2 (you just play in order to reach high stats and levels and then you play on the net in order to kill other players)

Some missions divide the experience among party members, some give each member present a certain amount. These are generally the ones that don't say you have gained experience. For example Nalia's keep. after you kill the trolls and walk outside, everyone gets a certain amount of XP. I tried dropping everyone from my party but Nalia, but we both still got the same amount. I think it may be the same for missions that say: Nalia gets xxx XP
Minsc gets xxx XP
....
But I'm not sure on that one. Also, I'm fairly certain XP limit is per character, so it makes no difference how many are in your party. Pretty stupid if that's not the way it works...
As for the XP cap, I thought I would finish the game first and then try it. My main character is a mage, so I really want those ninth level spells, but I would feel like I was cheating.

i think the the exp cap could spoil the game, if you took it off for bg1 and started bg2 with a level 21 fighter or something like that then it would make the game too easy and spoil it. Also BI said that they limited druids levels because they become very powerfull after level 14 and it was hard to implement this in the game. any of u pnp peeps know what happens to them?? Im am very curious to know because i may play as a druid in future and import them into NWN

Also the cap makes expansion packs and sequals more appealing if they raise the cap so they also do it to make money

i might try it now i have finished the game

2 things:
1- how do i remove the cap?
2- will it stop my character being usable in NWN?
