Personally I can't understand why anyone would want to play anything* on a console. Give me my 1GB RAM, ultra-powerful video card, quadraphonic sound, 17" LCD monitor and the ability to install dozens of patches and mods - sheesh, PC every time.

Of course it helps that every piece of computing equipment I buy is fully tax deductable. :D

*Well, platformers. I do play the Ty games.

I've finally summed it all up. The XBox controller is a keyboard in a much more compact package, but mods are the way to go. On average, how long does it take for a mod to finish download?

Nowhere near. It hasn't any of the degree of control of a keyboard. It is far more like the mouse, in that respect, with a few extra buttons thrown in for good measure.

For example, using KotoR, I coiuld open any one of 8 screens using a single keypress on the PC. On the Xbox (I played it twice, once on each platform), I had to hit a button to get to the a strip of menus buttons, then hit that button several times to scroll over to the right screen, then hit it again to view that screen.

A game that uses a lot of keyboard and key combinations, like Freelancer or X2, would be impossible to play on an Xbox.

Depends on your connection. On a cable, a few seconds, if that. At 56K, anywhere from a minute to an hour. In the latter case, I would suggest finding out the length of the file, and using a good download program like GetRight to cut downloading time.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
