OK, I am doing this, and after over 10 hours, we are still at a mutual stand off. I am immune to every spell he throws, adn he is immune to every one I throw back
The dialogue box says my weapon is inefective. Occasionaly I get a 'critical hit', yet his stats remian that he is uninjured. I whail on him as long as I can, then just befor my 'protection from magic' wears of, I run out , rest and recast it...(Using helm of Veihlor) SP? . When I use Carsomyr to cast sun ray it has no effect.
I am running out of ideas
It takes a +4 weapon to hurt Kangaxx. Here's a couple of ideas: Get Vhailor's Helm the Mace of Disruption and a scroll of magic protection. Now put the scroll in a quickslot and don the helm. Cast simulcrum and then have your simulcrum cast magic protection on your character. Send that one magic protected character in to fight Kangaxx with the Mace of Disruption (2-12 +4 damage to Undead, plus they must make a saving throw vs. death (-4 penalty) or be utterly destroyed). Keep the rest of your party out by the door and out of Kangaxx's sight. Evenually Kangaxx will be destroyed. You can hasten the process by setting a bunch of traps where Kangaxx spawns and by hitting him with the Ring of the Ram and Ring of Energy. There are only two Protection from Magic scrolls in the game, so that's the reason for using Simulcrum to cast it as it doesn't get destroyed that way. You can use this tactic on various liches you encounter. A protection from the Undead scroll is supposed to work as well and they can be purchased at almost any temple.

I have been doing exactly this...I have also used the sword that gives you *Sun Ray*...or something like that...but as long as I go....I get the message that the weapons and spells are inefective...
My PC is 18 strength Wizard Slayer....I have Anomen....I also have Keldorn......I have used each of these guys in there....but nothing I do touches the guy....he isn't touching me either....it is like I said...a stand off. I have read the stratagies, adn the other threads.....Is there something about using the 'Protection from Magic"scroll that prevents you from being able to cast 'Sunray'.....or taht disables the effects of weapons like "The Mace of Disruption", or Crysomere?

Here's my sugestion for killing him. It took one try and no effort, it's extreemly cheesy though, so you might not like it.
Place 4 traps right where he spawns and 4 more traps in the back corner. Have a character open the tomb, wait until he dies, use the ring of the ram on the new and improved Lich, he will take damage from the ring and be pushed back into the other 4 traps and will instantly die.
Use it if you want, or fight him for real if you want. I play a theif so the traps are kind of my style.

Something is broke...
When I use "Ring of Ram" , which from everything I read is suposed to be effective against this guy, I still get the message "Your Weapon has no effect"
I am wondering if the sola mod has bugged this part of the game in some way. Has anyone beaten him while the Sola Mod was installed?

I have beaten him with Sola mod installed, and no, I don't believe it's Weimer's mod responsible for this.
Sometimes just happens something to go wrong with the installation. Do you recall what files/ fixes/ mods
exactly you have installed and in what order?

Hmmm...I have the SoA and ToB installed. Then I followed the instructions on the Sola page installing the official patch, Balderdash, Sola v96, then ran the installations according to the instructions.

It took everythng you guys recomended, and I still lost Korgan, but he is finished. I think my main probalem was I was not a high enough level when I tried to do this quest, but it was a great feeling when the S.O.B. went down
.....Thanks again for all of your help

Glad you did it.
By the way, did you find out what was the problem before? Because, the order of installations you mentioned above seemed alright to me.

I think I was just too low a level to be trying this quest....It was like in Morrrowind...when your character is new, adn your abilities are low.....you cant hit a rat.....but later, you can take out a Dremora Lord with a tuning fork
I don't have much experience in BGII yet....but that is what it seemed like..I had beefed my party up so that he could not touch me....but I am still so low a level, that it took all 5 of us wailing on him at the same time to cause any dammage.....We all had 'Haste" as well, so he never had a chance to do his 'Yowell" adn regenerate......we just wore him down

I thought Kangaxx's regeneration might have been the problem but you threw me off with the "Weapon Ineffective" message. I probably was just that you couldn't do enough damage quickly enough to overcome the regeneration, as you say.
But Carsomyr should have worked. Are you sure it wasn't Daystar you were hitting him with? Your earlier post seems to suggest the latter.
Not that it matters anymore, of course...

Yes, you were right...it was daystar..I was confused

Daystar's ability, Sunray, does a lot damage to all undead creatures. Did you use it?
The same applies for the cleric spells, False Dawn and Sunray.

Yes I did. I found that the reason it was not working before hand was taht my PC was using it, adn she is shielded by protection from magic. This not only protected her from magical assaults, but prevented her magic from getting out as well. I gave Daystar to Korgan who wielded it while in Berserker mode. He was able to use Sunray effectively on Kangax, though it only did 30 damage. He was imprisoned toward the end of the battle...I think his Berserker ran out. I should have recast it, but I did not know how long it lasted, so as soon as it expired, Kangaxx cast imprisonment on him and he disapeared.
....I have not been able to get a 'Scroll of Freedom"...So I may just SK a scroll in. I hate to have him miss out on all of the EXP points between now and reaching a high enough level to get the scroll. I prefer not to cheat, but this may be a case where it is a bit of damage control.......Live and learn.....
...Next time I will wait untill I am a little higher level to try this particualar quest

You can also reload your game before the battle and fight Kangaxx again.
You don't need to use SK for getting a scroll. If you enable the game's cheats, you can give yourself a scroll by using cluaconsole command,
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("scrl9z")

I've tried this in the past with only partial success and ended up having to slowly bash him to death for the second kill, but this last time I had two thieves in my party and set 4 traps in front of the coffin and 3 in the corner (you can only have 7 traps in an area at one time). Had Aerie armed with Mace of Disruption+2 and Valhor's Helm cast simulcrum and protection from magic and opened the coffin. As soon as Kangaxx finished his dialog he was toasted immediately by the traps and then I had Immy hit him with Ring of the Ram (she was by the exit door). It worked perfectly, Kangy flew across the room into the 3 remaining traps as was DOA. The damage of the Ring of the Ram added to the traps was plenty to kill his second form. It was poetry in motion. It went so fast that I never had a chance to try to pickpocket Kangaxx for an extra ring.
Since traps never go away unless sprung you can have your thief set some in the far corner when you first get the quest from Kangaxx and then set the other four in front of the coffin just before you fight him.

I know this is a very rudamentary thing, but I have no idea how to use the CLUA commands....I have been trying to find out, but as of yet have not had any luck.
I have done a search here to see if there wad a step by step lesson, but the closest I have come is Craig's thread...adn as informative as it is, it assumes you already have a certain level of knowledge. It is something I am interested in learning how to do though

Go to your BGII folder of your computer, open it and search for the file baldur.ini. Open it, write Debug mode=1 under Program Options , save and exit.
Start your game. When in game screen use Ctrl+Space bar to open the console. Write CLUAConsole:CreateItem("scrl9z") and the Freedom scroll will be in your invetory.

Ermm...is there any chance that I could mess up the whole game instalation if I do it wrong?, or does it just affect the game I am currently playing.

Scayde, it's very unlikely that you will mess things up. Adding one line to your BALDUR.INI file won't mess up your installation even if you type it wrong, and CLUAConsole commands only affect your current game, NOT your installation. It's also very unlikely that a using a CLUAConsole code would mess up your current game. If you type the wrong CLUAConsole code, you'll either get an error message (and the code won't do anything) or you'll make a mistake that's easy to fix.
For example, if you want to use the CLUA console to give your characters more experience, all you have to do is change their experience with a command like the following:
CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP("2000000")
This will give your character a total of 2,000,000 experience points.
If you mistype the command and give your character 20,000,000 experience points by mistake, you can change it right back.
The only real potential for messing up your current game (but NOT your installation itself) can occur if you start trying to alter a lot of global variables (like the ones I gave you earlier when I told you how to summon Edwin). You might trigger events you weren't ready for or prevent events from being triggered or create other problems like that. So don't do that.
