What is your favorite book?

I really like your upbeat attitude about humanity.

Yes, that pretty much summarizes cynical Kit Marlowe's plays, which are among the richest for the sound and music of the English language. By the way, there's been an excellent book published that attempts a reconstruction of Marlowe's later life activities and murder, called The Reckoning. It's done in a populist style, but has a very hard, well-researched core. Definitely worth a read.

Anti-intellectualism is dangerous to a society, because it denies knowledge and opens up for ideological propaganda and manipultion.

Which is why any kind of academicism is attacked by the commercial culture, religious leaders and politicians, all of whom seek to manipulate the public.

My favorite is a book called Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson. It reminds me a lot of the Odyssey and the Aenied, but written in a modern style. I highly reccomend it.
