I'd reckon that a soloing sorceres fancies Staff of the Magi pretty much? ;) That, and Robe of Vecna, and you're ready to go! :)

Ahem, stunning for me. :p Perhaps it made you giggle, but that was some excellent XP and a job well done for me. I can only cast two 6th level mage spells at a time with Nalia, and 1 with Aerie, so shut up. ;) Neh, j/k. :D

Which monster gives the best XP anyway? Bodhi?

No, I giggled just from the phrasing itself. What you killed wasn't a factor.

As I said, she gave the outstanding 95.000 last time I beat her at chapter 6, and I don't remember killing anything that gave more. Although I didn't beat Demogorgon that time, and I don't remember what amount of xp he gives, though it prolly isn't something to be overlooked.

Otherwise, no. The standard for big-bad-bosses seem to be around 50-60k.

I don't think Bodhi is all that hard for the amount of experience you get out of her. I think she is just worth more, b/c she has a larger role in the story. Especially if you ally with her.

beating the dragon

I use the method that I take one character, not so important in melee for example mage or archer, placed it away in duistance and play him with dialogue with dragon (or lich), others placed around the enemy. and familiars too, aerial servants, spider, berserk warrior, golems, elements, etc., but attack instead. Enemy is in dialogue mode, and not enemy.. :D do this quite often, or the beast will attack. Good against dragons nad lichs.
worth of trying.
You had Imoen, which means that you had gone through the whole asylum/underdark-stuff and you're still "relatively low level"?

Or did you use some patch?
First thing I did was pick up Nalia, Kelsey and do Nalia's keep.
That gave me enough gold to go to Brynnlaw. I did so then went through the underdark with Imoen, Nalia, Jahiera, Minsc, Kelsey and myself. By the time I got out, Kelsey could cast 6th level spells, Nalia and Imoen could not. Then my first quest was the shadows (and Thax), then various others, then after all the other quests were done (except Bodhi), I completed Firkraag.

That is a good strategy, but NEVER USE IT AGAINST KANGAXX!!!
Because he needs to do a transition, when you first attack him, if he is in dialogue mode, he will not change. He will stay near death no matter how many points of damage you do. Attack Kangaxx fairly, (but pickpocket him first :D ).

It's "good" against practically anything, and a very well known cheese that just makes the game incredibly boring. I would only consider it were I stuck with no other options or just too lazy to try again in a few levels.

How on earth can you call that a good strategy when it isn't even a strategy. You're not fighting the dragon or lich! Pardon me asking, but why play the game or fight these monsters when you're not battling them?

Heh heh... I soloed SoA and ToB with a paladin (undead hunter)... Did I cheat? Yes, a little.... I started the character in ToB, and exported him to SoA. Instant level 16(?)! Anyway, my tactic was to just charge up to everything that moved and hack the beegeezuus outta it.

The first thing I did was the entire copper coronet bit, including the "quest" to get Lilacor (my favourite sword :P ). Then I went and got killed by Firkraag, came back and slaughterd him like a lamb  , thus gaining near-invincibility through Carosmyr.

There was nothing that could stand in my way! I hacked, I slashed, I maimed and I created general carnage. S'a good thing that there are no laws against commiting genocide by the way :D .

The one and only thing I had problems with was, against all probability, a MAGE! Or perhaps not really against all probability... it was Kangaxx. WEll the first form I "pwnd" as they say, but the second form...."pwnd" me. I managed to resist a few imprisonments, but Carosmyr sets your magic resistance at 50, so it was only a matter of time... In the end though, I bought protection from undead and destroyed him.

Looky looky, I've written a lot! I'll finish by saying that Melissan is a tough daughter of a *****! :D

A little? Cheating "a little" is, imo, to raise your dex to 20 while playing thief, just cause you wanna role play a really dexterious thief, or something like that.

To begin with 2,5m exp when maximum for that game was supposed to be 2,95 (or something like that) is not to cheat a little... Try soling the game without importing from ToB, guaranteed more challenge and fun. Paladins with Carsomyr are very strong anyway.

And while carso do set your mag res to 50 when equipping, you can re-equip the other items, as Ring of Gaxx, and then get 60%. It's kind of important to notice, since it's a huge difference between 95% and 60%. :)
