Well if you're going to resort to cheapness tactics of course the game is going to be easy. Pre-emptive trapping in large quantities is one of the most unimpressive ways to kill anything from dragons to demi liches.
Warning: logic and sense is replaced by typos and errors after 11pm

Yeah, there is nothing more rewarding then surving a HUGE battle with a monster. For this reason I love trigger battles against several monsters, such as the Twisted Rune. You are fighting and everything is random, then you have to save party members, cast spells which might be beneficial, inturupt casters... I could go on forever.

But yes, you will get the most enjoyment out of the game the harder it is to win.

If the Twisted Rune is to hard to fight properly, wait a few levels before you try again, or realise what it is that kills you, and figure out how to counter-act that.

Hiding some of your party members and springing them later is a great tactic sometimes, b/c they avoid certain spells without having to protect them with spells of your own. And doorways are excellent methods for taking down enemies one or two at a time and saving some of your much needed hit points.

Nothing much has changed since the old days of non-computer D&Ds. I remember playing Hero's Quest, you would wait at the door so you could kill them one at a time, now in Baldur's Gate it is still the same. Oh it takes me back...
