Magrus you are impossible!!!!!!!! But I dont mean Yoga in a class. You can even do it in your room. And there are different styles/ways - one of them should work for you.
And alcohol is just a no go road. Honestly I dont care what you say, but you must care about yourself and your health .

Indeed, they put on a free show here in was it november of 2003? Right after they released Group Therapy. Ah... A free Dope show. Smoke pouring out of their dressing room, they all stagger out, demand shots of Jagermeister and start to play. Yes, they're one of my fav's. The girls went nuts at the second track off of that new album too. Quite fun to watch...I got to shake the lead singers hand. I think he was too messed up and didn't notice though. Just sort of stared at me and nodded with big eyes, no clue what he was seeing at the time but definately wasn't all there. He was oblivious to the gorgeous brunette tugging on his arm too.

*chuckles* Told you didn't I?

No converting me to your safe and sound ways.
Well, if my cute friend didn't move away, I'd try again, but *shakes my head* she's gone.

It's just not my "thing" I don't think. I'd rather go for a walk for a few hours instead with my discman and music.
Yeah, umm, I didn't pick the road I'm headed down, and if the thing just decides it's going to end prematurely and I have no way off that road, I'll have my fun and go full tilt off the edge. Just my personal preference.

Well hey I wont give up. Fas and I share a middle name
"stubborn". And what "ifs" are huge. You never know what the future could bring, I suggest you enjoy life, but take care of yourself in the process too. It is possible. And if you feel good, and you take care of yourself, you will enjoy it twice as much.
As for your friend...well the way I look at it is...you have to do stuff for
your own sake . You have to put yourself first. And you're such a nice guy, its not pleasant to see you literally throw your life away.

I am doing this for myself. I try to make the best of each day, and enjoy it. If I want to get terribly drunk, I do. If I want to go out and party, I do. I've chosen to stay home with this baby every day knowing my situation and I enjoy that. It's something I chose to do to make my life better. I've discussed it with my doctors and granted, my habits may increase the risks they warned me about, but they said either way, that WILL happen, and soon and I'd rather have my fun while I can than sit at home worrying if everything I do will set that event of.
I've come to terms with it, it's the other people I've told who haven't. It's sweet and I appreciate it, but, my life, my choices and my reality.

A couple of meditations I've found effective:
Envision yourself watching a very small stream; it carries forward your thoughts. As a thought passes in front of you, stop it by brushing it to one bank, and out of the water. Keep doing this, and you will calm your mind.
Envision yourself entering a broad, deep well in the earth, set about with circular stone walls, and quite dry. Keep spiraling down a set of stairs in this well. Traditionally, this is a useful technique for integration through dialogue with aspects of yourself at the bottom of the well, but if you just focus on the process, on the walls, the steps, etc, you'll often yourself out like a light before you get a chance to reach the bottom.
These aren't New Agey, by the way. The first is something I found in an old book attributed to the Buddhist "saint" Milarepa, and the second is part of Welsh folk tradition.

I have found the sound of rain very soothing in helping me to counter insomnia. Recordings of that sort of thing are quite readily available.

Thanks Fable. I've tried some techniques along those lines, they haven't helped much but I can try those and see if they work better.
I've just found my mind runs off with something and I haven't been able to reign it in properly a majority of the time. I've no clue as to why, but it branches off into to many subjects all at once and tries processing all of them at warp speed. Trying to shut down and slowly unwind with those types of methods generally only worked so long as I focused entirely on them. Once I stopped, 5 minutes later I was back at it again.
I love the rain, but it brings back too many memories for me to relax to the sound of it. It's invigorating for me. A friend told me to borrow one of her Homedic sound making devices to try that and other natural sounds and I couldn't sleep with them. Music works best, the more aggressive the better for some strange reason.
Complaining? I am dead asleep within 30 seconds after sex. It's hormonal for both men and women, it's probably the oxytocin doing it. Oxytocin is a hormone and a neuropeptide that makes us humans relax, and it is released after orgasm and when smelling people you have a close attachment to in both males and females.
More on sleep (and sex) later, I must work now.
Sex actually amplifies my insomnia. It's a hell of a connundrum.. having to choose between sex and sleep..
Fortunately, the rain tapes do help quite a lot.. otherwise I'd be a zombie

I find sex provides an approximately 10 minute post-coitus window where I can drop off. If I don't use it, I revert to normal sleep patterns. My wife generally gets sleepy afterwards, but she also has the ability to drop off to sleep almost anytime within less than 5 minutes of touching a pillow.
In compensation, she's the worst waker I've ever seen. I can rise, alert, at once. She takes 1-2 hours, with a demand for caffeine, and all the personality of cotton wool.

Either or, could be 3 hours from now, or a few weeks or months down the road. I do my best to ignore it and enjoy the time I have.

Frustrating isn't it? Unless a girl can keep me occupied for a good 3-4 hours with sex, I'm bouncing off the walls when she's done and passed out frustrated and wanting to do something.

@Fable: i'm only terrible to wake when i don't have to go to work. if it's workday i bounce up like a scared kitten. but when it's off day my gf has to pour coffee down my throat and kick me/steal the blanket to get me up. but i can sleep pretty fast. atleast that's what the missus complains.. i sleep before she closes her eyes
@mag:damn well if you're ok with it i guess i can't complain about it. just bothers somehow that one day you might not be here anymore spamming with us

Yeah, I came to terms with it a while ago.
Yeah umm, while it can be fun, like I said, very hard to find a partner that doesn't pass out on me. Dead serious there. Lina was fun before she went back to work, 2-3 times a day for 3 weeks was great exercise, but left little time beyond sleeping a few hours a night and eating. Shame that didn't work out.
My "aunt", she's really just a very close friend a few years older than me, anyways, she's the same way. The trouble she had finding a guy that would keep up with her that I heard about was hilarious to say the least.

Ha, no, we've never pushed our relationship to that level. Although, she did threaten to come after me with her stripper friend Jade when I was 16 and thought I needed to lose my virginity. That was a very odd and frustrating conversation. I've regretted the answer I gave her since I met Jade last year. *shakes my head* Wow.

Well, 3 times a day, is 9-12 hours with me, with breaks in between....that's a 16 hour day.

Those days, I slept like a baby full of Nyquil and pain killers.
Ha, Lina constantly used to give me that last bit about the marathon thing. "No, don't have time for a marathon, have to be up for work in the morning". Horrible...you don't place a time restriction on that!

no you don't.. sometimes my gf is afraid to get busy in the middle of the day if her mother comes to the house to surprise us.. i can relate to that...
"damn you, i was supposed to be sleeping and am i? no i'm not thanks to you *smiling grin&kiss*" that was a comment i got from her after the last time i went upnorth. it was 1am and she stayed up for me to arrive.. she was suppose to go sleeping right after i arrived. but alas, that comment was made about 3am

Ha, I liked Lina's flexible schedule. She could do in to work at 9am, or at 2pm. Sooo, if I ended up waking her up early to play, so long as I didn't wear her out she could go into work later. Or if I kept her up until 5-6am, she could sleep until 1pm and then head off to work. It was nice.
I couldn't do that with other people, although, I used to tease Jen mercilessly before class. I'd be attacked when her classes let out too. Like being pounced on by a 100lb kitten out of nowhere.
