Everyone has their own varying "cheese" definitions I imagine Thrifalas. There are probably things I would consider cheesey (or even wrong) that you might not. Although the blocking tactic is a "little" cheesy to me, I don't feel it is completely wrong however and that it is a valid tactic because the game uses a very similar situation against me. There have been times in narrow passages or doorways where one of my characters was stunned/unconscious/held/etc. and I was unable to get past them or move them. It was pretty ridiculous that I couldn't even shove my own incapacitated character out of the way so I could get at the enemy or extract a character out of a bad situation because the guy behind them was out of action. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander so to speak. If the game can block the door so I cannot get to the enemy then I should be able to do the same. I have used summons in IWD to do just that but this seemed less complicated and required less prep. A matter of perspective I suppose. Using summons is one way to do that for sure. I like to try different tactics so might just use that next time.
