Someone mentioned earlier in the NS phenomenon in SS that there used to be one; BS might've been the one who said it.
Yeah, I'd rather not join the UN anyway.
Edit: Well, I appear to be on the verge of economic collapse. I can either go all out and ban capitalism once and for all (very appealing), or I can lift several government regulations to ease the tensions with big business. Sadly, I'm going with the latter. Big business flees, and my country's economic welfare will collapse. How will people be able to afford their 29% income tax rate?

lol 95% oh my. I can't imagine citizens choosing to live with that; their countries must be really screwed up.
Wow, it's been a couple hours since I checked after my decision to repeal several regulations against big business. Well, I've been hit by some massive changes since then.
The Confederacy of Qasama is a small, safe nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, cynical population of 12 million are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."
The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. The average income tax rate is 27%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is dominated by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry.
Military spending is on the increase, meat-eating is frowned upon, the government is avowedly atheist, and the government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Qasama's national animal is the spine leopard and its currency is the dukat.
Everything in red is a recent change as of two hours ago. This is what happens when you support big business.

The blue one happened overnight, after I appointed the new religious leader, who vowed to resign the next day. But at least my economy is reasonable now rather than fragile.
Ah, well; time to do the cloning issue.

Good to know, I appointed the same guy as spiritual advisers.
BTW did anybody notice how the names in the options for issues seem to change once you select your option (and in fact each time you go back to the issue)?

They are, indeed, random names. Well spotted.

That they are random, okay. But they could keep'em consistent while you have the issue. As soon as I click on one of the "accepts", they change. And when you go back to the same issue after having logged out and logged in again, the names also will have changed.
So generate the names randomly when you get the issue and then keep those names until the issue disappears. This way it is just plain stupid.

Elections have been outlawed and Yola Cocaine's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region. Crime is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Yola Cocaine's national animal is the Raptor, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Cheeze.

Grr. I spent like two weeks as a psychotic dictatorship, and now in the last 12 hours I've gone to an Iron Fist Consumerist to a Father Knows Best state. What the heck?
rofl I have to take sides on the marijuana debate now. I love position two, it's just so outrageous for pothead behavior.
"'Whoa, dude, no need to get, like, you know,' says Free Your Mind campaigner Klaus Nagasawa, from his parents' basement. 'This is, like, a personal choice issue, you know. It's like... whoa, just back off what I want to do with my own body. Don't let the fascists win, man. There are some hot new eckies coming in soon, they should be legal too.'"
This may have to be the first time I dismiss an issue.

That was one of the arguments, I went with optional, I figured that on my compulsory election days I wouldnt want to see those lines, sanitation would be a nightmare, and the jump in sexual harrassment and assault cases would over tax my poor little court systems. Besides, everyone would include my mother...
