Good to have you on board TM :D
As we've said, no previous experience required ! ;)

btw, if anyone knows of other potential writers, do feel free to notify them. I invited a few people, but just because I didn't send an invite to others doesn't mean those people shouldn't join. It's just that I'm more familiar with some SYM members than others, so those are the people I contacted ;)

Oh, and just to clarify, this is definitely *not* by invite only. The reason I began to approach people via PM was simplyto get the word out more quickly ;)
we can start things off this weekend and take it from there. We want the story to be very open, so if people join at a later point, this shouldn't be a problem.
Well... now what I've signed on for this... *cough* I actually can't participate this weekend I'm going out of town *cough*

Sorry... :o

I will when I get back though. How exactly does something like this work anyway?

No worries, don't sweat it. Myself, I'm going to be doing a lot of packing this weekend because we are going to be moving at the end of the month. So any posting I do will be worked in around that.

There's no pressure at all, just post when you can. Basically, those of us who are able to will put down some initial posts this weekend, and likely play off of what everyone else has written. The idea is for this to evolve spontaneously and organically, so no need to worry about timelines or expectations. It's a given that people have real lives to attend to as well ;)

I already felt left out, not being invited and all that. Thanks for clearing that up, though. :p

lol! You responded so quickly to this thread, there was no need to alert you :D
Though, rest assured, you'd have been unfortunate enough to receive a PM from me had you not :p ;)

But yeah, please put the word out. I'm pretty scatter-brained at the best of times, and with moving preparations I'm even worse than normal. Which means I can't be relied upon for remembering who to contact. :o

Unfortunate? It was an honor. :)

I've been requested to present myself at my friends sale for his shop during a town festival saturday, and then present myself at his new house. Apparently I'm to get wasted and direct passerby in an amusing manner to his shop and then he'll get me more drunk when we go back to his place. SO posting will be limited saturday evening and sunday most likely. :(

I'm almost always here though :o , so I will be able to post often. ;)

No worries, I don't think it would've been necessary to pm me, or any other who visits this forum and posts here regularly (me and wgoddess being two of them), because they would be reading it anytime soon anyway.

Yeah. :D

EDIT- Okay, just found out that the lock-in was cancelled, so I'll be able to post this weekend after all.

I would like to strongly advocate for the new thread to be posted in SYM, for several reasons. First, it has always had a receptive audience there and provided good entertainment value. Second, it would be wonderful to have occasional cameos or perhaps longer visits by past DFs. But that is much less likely to happen if the story is posted here. I only found this place because some drunk transient from COMM sold me a map. ;)
Third, if we are looking for new authors, there is no better recruitment tool than placing the story where the action is. And finally, we had many readers who really bonded with the story on SYM. Think of their woe, their sleepless nights, that will result from being unable to re-experience the glorious highs, the startling lows, and the absolute wyrdness of DF in a place that is easily accessible to them. It is too terrible to contemplate. Think of the little SYMers, all tucked in their beds with bottles of Turkey and Jack, but no DF in sight. We cannot let this happen!

*jumps up on the parapet* We must fight to make DF accessible to all who long for it, to all who have dreamed for it, to all those who have never worn leather or done a naked hotub! We do this because it is just, because it is right... because it is the type of crazed mayhem a group of hot, cutting-edge virtualists were born to wreck upon the unsuspecting land of Game Banshee. Let the games begin!

*After adjusting his strait jacket, Thantor is led away to a nearby psychiatric facility. There is little hope he will be posting this weekend*

Such a sad thing to see such a pillar of the community so far gone :( :p

In many regards, I really like the thought of putting the story thread in SYM.
I'm just concerned that it would still end up getting moved over here......

Maybe we should ask T'Lainya or Gwally, since they have also written in the DF, what their take is.

If it turns out that we have to keep the writing in this forum, perhaps we could, at the very least, put up a thread notifying people of the new story and its location.

If it has to stay in this forum, maybe we should put a link into our sigs about it, to kinda let everyone know about it?

I have emailed Fable and asked him to consider grandfathering us in. I will report back as soon as I hear from him.

Cheers Than! :)

I figure, while we are waiting for Fable to get back to us, we could probably use this thread for our initial posts, should people have the urge to start writing prior to Fable's response.
They would be easy enough to copy and paste into the actual story thread once it is set up.

For what it is worth, my two cents anyway ;)

@WBG,
regardless of where we do our writing, I think that putting a link to the story into our respective sigs might not be half bad idea

Fable said he doesn't expect Buck will allow the story in SYM. He suggests that we could do the discussion thread over there and direct people here.

Does anyone know how I can send a PM to Buck?
