What about the equalizer, odd that not one person has mentioned that. I like the Equalizer/Celestrial combo myself.

Indeed, it's just that there are so many good long swords to choose from, eg Blackrazor, Blade of Roses, Daystar, Dragon Slayer, Flame Tongue, Namarra, Ras, etc :)

Celestial Fury definitely, dualed wield with any other good weapon it works wonders.

My kensai mage is level 9/20, wields CF with Dakorn blade, I then made Keldorn Lvl 21 Inquistor with Holy Avenger +5 duel my kensai mage, and keldorn never won once.

Same goes with Anomen, Fighter-cleric level 7/27, wielding Crom Fayer, Anomen dies all the same.

And my lvl9 kensai still beats Minsc ranger level 20 wielding Silver blade.

A level 9 kensai defeating level 21 inquistor, level 27 cleric, and level 20 ranger? All because of Celestial Fury.

Because Celestial Fury is fast (spd factor 1), stuns enemy for 6 sec (I round) with every hit, and damaging, 1D10+3 plus other bonuses, wield it on the main hand, support it with another good weapon.

One of the best weapons in SOA.

for pure cheating fun, life taker and black razor is one of my fav. usually use clelestial fury and scarlet ninja to, for extra attacks and poison. throw in draw on holy might, who needs crom???

blackrazor is fun, especially shatter, loose loot except essential quest items and gold....(very sad :confused: )

liketaker is dagger taken out that has 15% chance of draining 4 levels. no save!!

i really dont like dual wield much, by kensai usually uses holy avenger, since it sure seems the deathbringer assault I have sure comes up more often with two handed weapons...

I agree with Craig, if the Craigian transaltion for Angurvadal is Avaguel ;) ...interesting fact of the day, The Answerer is from Irish mythology...it was one of the swords wielded by Manannan, God of Water, Patron God of the Tuatha De Danaan. It was supposedly irresistable by any armour, and made those hit by it clumsy and stupid. The Gaelic name is Fragarach...

Anyway in SoA, I would say that FoA isn't worth it, compared to the Equalizer, say. (BTW does the chance to hold opponent get greater as you add heads?) In ToB FoA's advantages outway disadvantages, but until then go for something else appropriate to class.

I dual wield the FoA with Angurvadal most of the time, changing FoA for Rune Hammer if I need to kill undead, and changing Angurvadal for Crom if I need to kill golems. Never used Blackrazor, too Lawful I'm afraid... :rolleyes:

All the calculations are very interesting, but I think is more important which combo is more effective rather then the one that deals the maximum absolute number of damage.
In that sense you should count the fact you have to invest proficiency points to use effectively a weapon and for how long you'll gonna use it.
Ex.: Crom and Blackrazor is is a very powerful combo, but for how many battles you will use it: only one in SoA (I will consider only SoA).
That said, I think that the most powerful combo are:
Celestial fury (or FoA) / Belm (Kundane) .
But I would give other suggestion:
those combo means you have to spread proficency points between different weapon (maybe also some ranged one), so we can make some other consideration: if you are a warrior (pure or kit) you have to invest 3 pt for dual wielding, and at least 2 pt for every weapon; if you have at least one pt on a ranged weapon, you will be specialized in both your weapon combo not before 12th lv., master before 18th lv, G.master at 30th.
If you choose a single weapon, you will be master at 9th, G.master at 15th, so you will get those bonus for most part of the game.
With that in mind those are IMO the most effective combos:
1)Celestial fury/Dakkon zerth, a must for fighter-mages (dualled);
2)FoA/Defender of E.;
3)Any combo with long swords (Blade of roses, Daystar, Flametongue, Adjatha, and just keeping in the weapon slot allows you to have the spell benefit);
4)Frostreaver/Stonefire axes; with that combo you can save the point used for the ranged weapon and use a throwing axe.
5)Blackblood/Gnasher
Any of theese combo is available very early in the game and you will be using it as a master from the beginning.
