I normally attack the Golems before looting the statues. The Iron Golem I attack from outside the door (which it can't get through) with Azuredge. That's the kind of strategy I use for the majority for Adamantine Golems in the game too. Most of them are too big to walk anywhere.

So are golems classed as giants then?

No they are not giants .It is the weapon.It has an enchantment of +4 on anything, but the thaco bonus is only supplied to giants.
