Nope, no climbing in NWN. Nothing that gets you off of the ground. No flying, climbing, jumping, levitating or horse riding. They didn't want to include all those because they would have to animate more tiles on the screen at once (when you fly around for example) which would give the game a major performance hit. No flying or hovering creatures either.... no beholders. :( The game is still gonna be great though. :)

No beholder's? No way! All they'd have to do is create a beholder with invisible legs, and forbid him from crossing ravines, etc.

The thing you have to remember in NwN is that it is till not completed. A lot is still to be added. The spell effects look amazing (in particular Strength, an upper body appears over the character and flexes his muscles. COOL!). I am looking to this game with great anticipation! :D

Yeah they will have levitating creatures but they are not really levitating. It is because you can't levitate very high so you could fly over minimal objects and that is not really important.

I read a little bit about this. The introduction of a Z-axis (up and down) would cause a serious slow down due to the calculations involved. They would need to re-write pathfinding to cope with levitation, this would severly slow down production time.
