Dungeon Lords Game Editor V1.56
Can the editor help with lag?
We are playing 3 player over the internet. We all have HIGH END machines and Internet connections. I'm talking Athlon 3000+ 2gigs of memory Geforce 6 or 7 cards. The slowest internet is 6M/768k. Our pings are all sub 100ms.
Through the sewers was great. In Fargrove, in the Monestary area, and then again in the Temple Catacombs we experienced the 20+ seconds (not ms, seconds) of lag. It seems to go away, and isn't permanent like in 1.3 that we played. Its playable as long as it goes away, but it does cause a death once in a while.
To measure the lag, press 'e' or 'c' and count the seconds before the menu pops up or goes away.
Are there any settings in the save game file that might indicate why the lag gets saved in certain areas? Are there any sections of the save game file that deal with multi-player specifically? I'd like to research this to fix the lag in our games.
Has anyone COMPLETED the game multi-player over the internet (not LAN)?
My three player save game is located here: http://www.craig-bartell.com/secret/game01.zip
I tried the godmode with everything set to 255. When multiple enemies attack, there is a tiny hint of damage but life stays at or near 100%. Enemies also become more resistant and only something like blast nova or cataclysm is needed to beat them instead of pounding on them for minutes at a time. Why do enemies get more powerful as your stats get very high? I notice other trainers set the life field to 999/70 for example. Seems as if the closer to 100 the last field gets, the more powerful they get, and once it goes over 100 you have to spend a LOT of time trying to defeat enemies
Just a note. Haven’t tested this in the CE but in earlier versions taking "strike" over 99 seemed to break the attribute. Once over 99 you would get lots of instances where your weapon would bounce off creature's armor. It is as if the game only reads the last 2 digits. D

I suppose I can limit the stat values to 99 or would ppl prefer just a popup message indicating that taking these values over 99 could cause strange effects in the game. Any opinions?

Popup would be pretty good, with option to lower stats. In getting the Shadow Lord quest from Staroxia, she requires you to have stats of 40. But there's a drawback here; with a vitality of 40/40, Life would be slightly over 100 which would make it difficult with just hand weapons. You would need blast nova and cataclysm in the really tough fights.
I recently did the Shadow Ruins with a life of 104/104 and almost never managed to kill the Nausoleum, not even with super spell crystals. Wish there was some way to boost stats without enemies and monsters also getting stronger/resistant when health is at or over 100!
Now I understand why previous trainers locked life at 999/70 for instance. This made you invulnerable. The trick is to NOT let the second value even approach 100, because it also somehow controls Monsters and Enemies health.

(I thought you were supposed to invoke it, but I was not able to with a brand new character. It shows up on the skills list. Let me know how this one works...)
You have to have the shadow lord amulet in order to get the quest from Stroxia for shadow lord, i have looked through the various items hex lists and have not seen the hex code for the amulet, but i have a character that is a shadowlord, and when you complete the shadow lord quest, you have an item in the invoke tab called shadow lord. Since i have already completed the game multiple times, i was going to try and use the shadow lord skill on that damn water jumping puzzle, but since you can't get the amulet until you complete the shadow realm that would be pretty hard to accomplish. If anyone can find the hex code for those 2 items, it might be fun to try it out.....
Sorry, i thought i had the most recent list, i found yours. Have you tried to put both of those in and use the shadow lord early in the game?
Actually, starting character can be Shadow Lord, if you also have the SL skill by hexing it in and setting it to about 100, or using the 1.51 editor from these forums. If you use that, you also have to have net framework 1.1 installed because the editor was programed to work with those drivers.

I set different values for Vitality and Life and here's the values I played through Naga Dungeon with: Vitality 10000/21 and Life 20020/20020
It seems as if the right side of vitality is what has some bearing on opponents. And those values seemed to stay the same. Man, what a dumb donkey game engine! Who knows what values could be set without the game going nuts!
Opponents were fairly easy (well, not THAT easy) to kill. I could take on several at a time and health barely lessened. I could even run through the long fire pit without damage! Now the Shadow Ruin was another story. The Nausoleum was a lot easier to kill and get his amulet.
By the way, Fighters can also become Shadow Lords!

Now this is intersting information...sounds like a good addition to the god mode configuraiton! Would any like the second value adjustments enabled on the game editor, too?
Has anyone played with the new heralds section? I thought it was kind of neat and some great bonuses too!
What about the shadowlord skill? I notice some conversation about that, but has anyone tried modifying a character with the editor and the shadow lord skill? I didn't notice any invoke option when I tried it. The shadow lord skill did show up in my skills. If anyone has two saved game files (one from just prior to and one from just after obtaining the shadow lord skill), then I would love to get a copy of them! I can sector edit the files and do a binary compare to determine the differences and what I might be missing to enable the invoke. Thanks

Actually, seems as if the first vitality value hexed to 9999 and both values in health initially set to 9999, and say if the second value of vitality is left at maybe 20, the first time the vitality + is clicked it only increases by 1 but the first vitality value goes to 10000 and both health values jump to 20020. It wouldn't make much sense increasing the second value of vitality because that's the trick. As long as it stays in the low 20's you can bring some hurt on opponents.
When I hexed vitality and health, my health bar wasn't full, so I just found a fire and rested 3 or 4 hours to fill it up.
Just now saw you have another update in the editor. Will try it immediately. Keep er goin!
Oh, before I forget, you also have to have the shadow lord invoke icon in the invoke screen. the hex for that is AA03
I'm wondering if there is a way to activate an icon in the class specializations. I have not been able to find the npc that I'm supposed to eradicate. Also, I have one annoying entry in the quest log where I couldn't find Erlinmir's flask.
The mysterious gate in the dungeon of the castle in Fargrove can be entered by hexing location in earlier versions, but there's nothing in there. In CE you can hex inventory to get the Black Key for that gate. In CE, there's one of those huge wooly wirm things and a large chest with some good stuff. I'm wondering if any npc has the black key or where it may be. Possibly it hasn't been programed into the game yet.

I'm sure that I can add that feature. I did notice the Shadow Lord(Invoke) item in the new list that you posted on another thread. Do you know If the full hex listing of this "item" has any additional information encoded into it? Each item is actually 20bytes long and certain items ie spellbooks have additional data that I have not had a chance to decoded yet. Anyone out have the legitimate shadow lord skill that would not mind posting the 20 bytes of hex data from the item with ID AA03 or sending me a saved game file? Thanks again...

Thanks for the help...
Pertinent data is as follows:
"{AA 03} {04 00} {00 00 00 00} {01 00 00 00} {8F 04 69 44} {00 00 00 00}"
Ok, well here is what I have learned thus far...The shadow lord skill doesn't seem to last very long per use. You sort of have "charges" with it, see note below
Break down by each set of numbers and their indication:
AA 03 is the item code(Same as other items)
04 00 is the status code ie Equipped, Junk, etc(Same as other items)
00 00 00 00-Not used(Repair, Charges, Mana Remaining in other items)
01 00 00 00-Charges remaining(Max Charges, Max Mana in other items)-**You have X charges to use until the recharge timer is tripped, then the charges value is reset to 01 00 00 00
8F 04 69 44-(Seems used only in rechargable items with charges or mana)Appears to be recharge timer-does not seem to count down in full sequence though-similar to spell books, but does not appear to be in sync with spell book timer though. Working on an explaination for this one.
00 00 00 00-??All zeros is items that I noticed.
I will update the game editor to verify this item is in your inventory or add it when the skills is added.

Hmmm, interesting...Sorry about the problem, but try the following:
..Right on the executable and select Properties
..Tell me what if anything is checked on the Compatibility tab
**Nothing should be selected on this page, but apparently there are a hand full of people that are noticing that somehow a compability enforcement is enabled when deploying .NET applications.**
If that does not correct the problem then please provide me with the names of the subfolder(s) in the "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\" folder. {C:\Windows} may not be accurate on your system if you installed windows into a dir other than default. Even better just open msinfo32.exe and expand "Software Environment"..select "Loaded Modules" and file..export to a text file and send it to me.
Also, provide the following information straight from the system summary page of msinfo32.exe:
OS Name:
Version:
System Type:
Processor(s):
Hardware Abstract Layer(HAL) Version:
Total Physical Memory:
Available Physical Memory:
Total Virtual Memory:
Available Virtual Memory:
i have completely updated windows...
