I played BG1 all the way about 4 times with different characters and I am so far using my favorite in the first run through. This game is too addictive...

I played both BG1 and BG2 with one generated character, and five game-derived NPCs. I did not import a BG1 character to start BG2. I played BG2 three times, to get a feeling for the different sub-quests, NPC dialog and fighting styles.
Didn't much care for BG1. BG2, on the other hand, rocks.

I played bg1 with a fighter, and imported him in bg2 where i atered him to a kensai whom i dualled to mage at lvl 9, a pretty good kick ass char.
I have thought about doing the game with one char. only (without NPC's), but i don't know if i would make it.

1. Played BG1 with a bunch of characters.
2. Cleaned up the hard drive.
3. Time passed.
4. BG2 came out.
5. Only had space for 1 on my drive.
6. Started BG2 with a fresh character.
Repeat step 6.

1.Played BG1 with a Paladin and an evil Thief.
Decided to not import them since I had used gatekeeper and had them with titanic stats.
2.- Played BG2 with a Cavalier, named after my BG1 Paladin. Teamed up with other NPC's.
3.- Played with an evil Beserker/Thief and a party where the good guys were banned. Much more fun tha first time.
4.- Playing with a female kensai/mage using other NPC I did not use the previous times. Kind of cool.
5.- Plan to make a Mage/Fighter of Shawsbuckler/Mage for next character, will only team up with Jaheira and perhaps Jan Jansen (or perhaps not)

I play multiplayer with my husband, so we use 2 PC:s, in BG1 my PC was a multiclass mage/thief and he played a ranger. We created new characters for BG2, I played a ranger and he a monk.

I imported my Ranger from Baldur's Gate I and recruited NPCs along the way. Half the fun of BG2 is NPC interaction after all
Finding that the Ranger is the dual weapon class of choice only made it better

I played BG1 the folowing characters :
1) Cleric - my first character. He is my priest of Helm in BG2.
2) Cleric/Ranger - stronger than normal cleric, cleric and druid spells in one.
3) Fighter/Cleric
4) Fighter/Mage/Cleric - all in one. I played this character BG2.
Someone could ask - why cleric ? - answer : the raise dead spell was awesome - I liked to lead the army of 40 skeletons.
Q2 : why I play clerics in BG2 - answer : the gate, sunray and raise dead spells, etc.
All these characters have the same name - Manveru, male, half-elf, true neutral. Some of them are after grimuar treatment.
and 5)fighter/mage, male ,human,true neutral.
I always join with NPCs - without them this game would be as boring as Diablo 2 when my sorceress had 66lev.
