I'm getting so sick of Chuck Norris jokes. They infest most every webforum I've seen the latter year or so and it is getting so old and overposted that it is annoying.
I know this will be an amazingly ignorant question to most of you, but who on earth is Chuck Norris and why are there many jokes about him on internet?

Chuck Norris was an action "star" on the same level as Van Damme (which means not very accomplished :D ) who were in a row of mid-80s action movies of questionable quality and later started in his own show Walker: Texas Ranger
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001569/
His "fame" comes from his roundhouse kick which solved everything in the series, to the same degree as The A-Team (Incidently there is similar jokes about Mr.T and his pitty) could build a tank in a garden shed and MacGyver could build a sub out of ducktape.

Why it is such a plauge on the web at the moment only the Gods (or Chuck Norris) can speculate about, but such things have a tendencecy to get a life of their own. Take a look at All Your Base Are Belong To Us amongst other such plauges. Or for thoese who've played WOW for a while - the whole Leeroy thing.
Why people jump on such bandwagons I'm sure you can explain much better then me, but why it often happens with terrible bad and/or staged jokes is a question which puzzles me each time I see something "new" happen like this.

Chuck Norris is an American actor and martial arts expert.

As an actor he specialized in action movies where he was the hero and won by beating the crap out of the bad guy (and most of whatever country he was from). He was also the star of Walker, Texas Ranger.

As a martial artist he was the undefeated World Professional MiddleWeight Karate Champion for 6 years in a row, was the first Westerner ever to earn 8th degree Black Belt Grand Master recognition in Tae Kwon Do and has been inducted in the Black Belt Hall of Fame as Fighter of the Year, Instructor of the Year and Man of the Year. (I had to read the bio for all that info BTW).

What people find so annoying is that awhile back people started making cute sayings about various people such as:
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris.
Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas.

Originally this started with various people (Vin Diesel, Chuck Norris and Steven Segal being the ones I've heard most often). Eventually Chuck Norris became the most prolific and these saying in one form or another started sprouting up everywhere like other internet fads.

Not to me, I didn't know who he was either... :o
"If I see one more O RLY owl I will seriously shove it up their ass", or something to that line. To which Fiberfar immediately responded with...

"O RLY?"
LOL!
I was so tempted to do that too. Well, to make up for me not doing that...

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US! :p

I was completely unaware of all this Chuck Norris stuff before I was looking through t-shirts on J!NX and saw the Chuck Norris one. It was pretty funny, but I'm not spamming it eerywhere I go.

CE, hun', I take it you don't know about the Mr. T craze either? If you do, Chuck Norris is worse. If you don't, tell me where you live. I want to be protected too. :D

@ Ravager and Darzog: This is why I'm planning on blocking the former and never adding the latter. :p
