Is this another "hit on (Chrissy was the former, Katie now)" topics? Or you are just trying to be friendly?

Hi Katie,
A few personal opinions on NPCs. As said before, you are much helped by a well balanced party, this meaning NPCs with different advantages and disadvantages. I would recommend at least two fighters to put up front. One or maybe two clerics (either druid or priest) are needed for healing. A thief is also a must if you don't want to miss out on a big portion of the game. Finally, I would recommend at least one mage, preferably more. As many persons often recommend good aligned parties, I will give you a neutral/evil alternative. With this party, it is possible for you to play any class you want to, but I personally would recommend a fighter to help out Korgan.
Fighter - Korgan (the best fighter in the game)
Cleric - Viconia (the best cleric in the game)
Mage - Edwin (the best mage in the game)
Thief - Jan (adds his spellcasting abilities while still having high thief skills thanks to his personal gadgets. Is also very cool.)
Finally choose either
Bard - Haer'Dalis (more spells, can use the instruments in the game, can identify many items without using a spell, and of course the bard song. Would be my pick of these three.)
Druid - Cernd (high wisdom gives him extra druid spells and he can help out in a fight if transformed into werewolf)
Druid - Jaheira (also a fighter, which might come in handy if you do not create a fighter yourself).
Good luck!

Hello Katie,
I loved BG 1! By all means play it unless you cant stand waiting to play BG 2.
I like my parties Fighter heavy, Minsc, Keldan, and My character, with Jaheira and Viconia to heal and sling a few spells with either Imoen or Nalia to cast and thief around. Nalia also uses a short bow well for extra damage when out of good spells or saving spells.
I like the opinions of Girl Gamers, brings a whole new perspective I think.
Good luck!

No female players? And what am I exactly? I'm pretty new too...how come I didn't get a special welcome?
No, seriously, there's a lot of us....we're just discreet. Pretend we're too cool for it, so we don't log on and check these things out publicly...

Sorry, missed your question there.
I'm a girl too. (even if some people here don't want to believe it)
I don't exactly buy the videogames myself since my little brother is an addict and my halfbrother dumps lots of his 'old' games with us. But I still like 'em. For me it all started with Final Fantasy.
