To be honest I've only really been travelling with them for short periods of time, if you want a long term companion you would probably be better off with one of Emma/Grumpy's.
Agreed. I'm using both Julian Ashlander and Constance, now, and both have topics that will state their current health and skill levels. They also employ companion share. I only wish they could know how and when to cast spells enchanted into items, but it seems the only ones that work for them are enchantments that activate upon strike.

I've just read the blurb on him and I'm off home to download him.

You could try posting over at Emma's forums to see if she knows any way round it, but I guess its probably a limitation with the scripting.

He's well worth it.

It is. No companions can "use" enchantments, and I'm not sure that enchantments-to-strike even work. They also won't drink personally made potions, since each of those has a unique ID number. (Which was a dumb way to hard code them, IMO.)

Fable, since you didn't mention otherwise I'm assuming Julan and Constance work well together (meaning, no bugs)? After reading about J. Ashlander I became very interested in him but I certainly don't want to say goodbye to Constance.

Yes, they do. In fact, Julian's dialog occasionally includes references to things behind said behind your back by Constance. :D Too bad she can't reply afterwards, since it's completely coded in the Julian mod.

I understand he will also "recognize" Kendra and Lara Croft.

Raven_Song wrote:@ Mr_Sir. Make sure you've got the latest version of MCA, I think its version 5.0, available as TES Source
5.0? The highest I can find is 4.1- is there a higher version somewhere? I checked the TES Source forum, and it refers you to the Summit, which is where I usually get all of my mods.. including Morrowind Comes Alive v4.1.

If there is indeed a higher version, where is it?

It's at TESSource. Hold on--

Try here.

I've been using constance and she's extremly good. I was put of companions by the stupidity of the AI and they always died but constance is great. She is yet to get in to trouble though. :(

Fable- When I downloaded MCA 5.0 from that site, I put it on a CD and took it upstairs (I game on my personal computer, not the family one) and when I tried to unzip the file (I use WinRAR) I got a diagnostic error message that said: " ! D:\4389-5.0-Morrowind Comes Alive-TESSource.zip: archive is in unknown format or damaged"

Do I need a different program to unzip it? I'm confused. The version I got off the summit works fine; except its only v4.1.... Any suggestions?

That said, I'd like to mention that Julan The Ashlander is an excellent companion... he can always keep up with me and the few time's I've "lost" him, (mostly in traveling and once when I was levitating) he's always been waiting for me at Ald 'Ruhn. He makes the MQ much more lively and enjoyable, with his drunken comments about Ordinators and such (something about turning their masks around backwards... hehe) and I wouldn't want to play without him.

I also have Constance installed and active... I just cant find her... does she have a set staring location, or do you just find her wandering around? I'd like to try Constance and Julan together.

I use ZipGenius after Dragon_Wench recommended it and it hasn't let me down as yet.

Head out of Gnisis on the North-West road, she's usually waiting there.

Aha... found her. Except it seems as though some textures are missing... hmmm...

Can I get ZipGenius from a site somewhere? Is it free?

Just google for zipgenius. You'll easily find it.

I just wanted to put in another plug for Julan :D
I downloaded him after I saw Fable's post, and he's really well done!

His quest is excellent so far (I'm only in the initial stages), and his character is very well developed. My biggest complaint about most companion mods is that they are fairly devoid of any kind of personality. But Julan is extremely well fleshed out.

With both Julan and Constance, it comes really close to feeling as though I'm playing a party-based game...
Just an incredible job! I really recommend him (along with Constance) to anyone who suffers from BG2 withdrawal. :D

I couldn't agree more.

Yep. My only complaint is that the commands to follow and wait are under different areas of conversation, because the mods were made by two separate modders, and that while Julian retains his membership in your "party" even if told to wait, Constance doesn't--you have to bring her outside then ask her to join your party, for a companion teleport spell. But it's a minor point.

I was going to get Julan but fable posted it about an hour after I'd done the vivec informant quest. I'm using Constance and I'd once again like to say Brilliant. I tried the MCA companions but none of them beat Constance.
